Chefwin: WP is not restricted to any nationality, but based on your education and work experience you may fall into S-Pass or even EP category.
The chances of an appeal depend entirely on how the employer adressed the rejection reasons. Just saying "Please look at it again!" does NOT work.
What you can do? Look for another employer/job as a Plan B!
I have a bachelor's in hotel management and 7 years experience in kitchen..but when ever I talked to a employer who has 2-3 WPs they all said Indians only s pass no wp..
I just feel dejected
With a university degree and seven years experience, you are definitely NOT in WP category!
WP is for uneducated manual labourers and entails severe restrictions - not least that you cannot bring family, marry or live outside the company-provided accommodation. You also cannot apply to become PR (permanent resident).
Thank you for your reply i guess I'll talk to employer for s pass . If he can
Would be great if anyone can share some thoughts on my queries above.
@shankarshankar your status shows pending? Since you are on S pass and as long as Company have quota shall not be an issue to be honest
@sonuengg123 the company applied for the work pass this Monday. I am hoping to get the results in 3 weeks
@beppi @beppi I understand, my current company was paying me 3.6K when I started. In the online self assessment test It said I am eligible for both the passes. I also don't have any higher hopes of getting EP pass but I am hoping to get the S pass at least without any problem.

@William7900 If no other factors indicate an exeption (e.g. rare niche skills), having at least three years applicable experience is required. I thus supect this was the rejectionreason in your case.
@surya2k
Point number 6) Fake institute ?
Is it possible to make like this institute in Singapore?
Supposed t be, if can make fake institute in Singapore, Who is Responsible for this ?
Even employee don't know that, fake institute.
So why employee suffering.
Government can do one thing, cancel that certificate & ask to employee make again course & get certificate, but if the reason for Reject? It's unfair for employees. Because Singapore is world-class country & spore law is equal for everyone.
Thanks
Nawab: There are no "fake institutes" in Singapore - the discussion was about falsified or non-recognised certificates from institutions abroad!
@surya2k
Number 5) What is the meaning of Adverse Record for employee? Can u tell me in details please?
Thanks

"Adverse record" is a blackmarkin your profile with the Singapore authorities, which prevent you from getting a long-term visa.
You can read lots of discussions on this forum about what can cause such a ban and how to deal with it!
@nawab shamim There's a case in my work place last time that they tried fake institute. Got approved by MOM but later on they found out that the diploma was fake. They terminate him and send back to their country and banned to work in SG.
Hi,
I am currently on EP. I have new offer with better pay and benefits but I only got S pass. Should I accept the new offer or not. Will it affect my future opportunities also? I am worried it may affect my chances for PR application also? I am not abled to decide and very worried.
@Intuitivemind The difference between EP and S-Pass is small. Read about it on MoM's website.
Hello, another "this candidate is not eligible to apply for a work pass. Please look for another candidate" rejection query :-( though as I'm already holding an EP it's confusing I'm refused an S Pass and am not eligable! I had a Zoom call with MOM and as per their (very limited!) information, I am submitting feedback to their site to hopefully get more information before the appeal process starts and hopefully find out more. I thought I’d try here for any hints and tips based on what I think could be the issue in case their response gives me no clue.
The back story: Persian, PhD Scholarship completed at NTU, and currently working with valid EP at a company the last 7 years (so here 11yrs). Was originally RnD Manager but moved to Quality and Regulatory Assurance Manager 1.5yrs ago in the same company (was already doing the work before, but the title changed). I’ve been offered a job in the Quality Assurance and Regulatory field, but rejected with the above mentioned note. As I’m not fresh out of school the wage limit has increased to 9K for me to get an EP (in the online SAT), so as I’m offered 8k it’s an S-Pass. My only thoughts of why it’s rejected: 1) My current company has never updated the records in MOM to show my new role, so maybe they think it’s not related? 2) Due to my PhD and experience, MOM thinks I should be paid more so should lift it to 9k to make it an EP? No idea, so frustrating and confusing!
Thanks!
Almost certainly the low salary is the reason.
If the SAT says S$9k/month is an appropriate (market level) pay for your background, why would you accept anything below?
An S-Pass is definitely NOT the intended visa for a PH.D. holder with many years experience.
@beppi thanks Beppi, MOM rang me back and said it was the wrong type of application, hoping it can be soon corrected!
Hi,
I am currently an Spass holder but due to insufficient quota won’t be able to continue with my current company. I found a new employer which will apply for my Spass but a lower salary than what was offered before but still as per SAT it is within limits. Has anyone faced this before. Will MOM have any problem?
Hi All,
I am 27 years old, Degree, Engineer with 4 years experience, and Offered by the French company registered in Singapore.
My Employer was going to apply for my S-Pass on 20/03/23 but suddenly requested by the MOM to provide the Verification proof report.
My employer ask me to refer https://www.mom.gov.sg/faq/work-pass-ge … -companies and mentioned there are two requirements shall be provided. i)
Education and Accredited Institution Verification, ii) Employment Verification I Applied for the background check on the screening company (20/03/23) and just noticed there is no screening company (as listed) providing services for the Past Employment verification (only education).
Any advice on this matter ?
@yafidresta So if I understand your post correctly
- MoM asked you to get a verification of your education AND employment history
- MoM only provided an agency for education verification.
In that case, you should ask MoM how they want the employment verification to be conducted.
I doubt anyone here knows which agencies in your country MoM accepts.
@beppi Hi beppi, thank you for your advice. According to my employer's interpretation this was requested due to one of my qualifications (diploma) was not in the MoM database.
And this will be the new regulation or procedure ti have the background verification proof report prior to applying the SPass/EP starts from September 2023 as seen from the news.
@yafidresta
you can contact any of the 4 odd agencies that are listed on MoM’s web page for verification of your degree/ diploma. They have a maximum turnaround time of 4 weeks, in your case since it is an educational institute from EU, should be relatively quick.
The fee is steep though, last I recall from a personal experience was roughly 250 Sing Dollars for one certificate verification.
