Hi everyone, any idea about the cost of building a house in Puerto Plata? and is local builder cheaper? thank you.

I've posted this link in other threads giving you the build costs for various types of housing from 2016 and imo they are a good guide.

Typically here Dominicans build using a 'maestro' ( a certified MOPC master builder) or more than one maestro. And often the Client will buy all the materials which are often quantified by the maestro if requested.

You can of course go with a main contractor but he will employ those same maestros and so the cost escalates. But you may not wish to get involved in the material purchase or other coordination issues such as design.

You will want to be very very hands on.  What is quoted is often not delivered. Materials are stretched and so quality can suffer. Materials magically disappear as well.

Building here is not what you are used to!
