Effect of End of the year trip for tax calculation

Post new topic

Nosanosa12

Hi,

I started my work on July 2018, and had an overseas trip from 28 Dec 2018 to 3 Jan 2019.

Am I eligible for linking 2018 tax and 2019 tax to get the refund of 2018 income tax comparing to residential rate?

Thank you in advance..

Have you taken more leave in 2019?

Hi Gravitas,

Thanks so much for your advice. I haven't taken another leave yet, but I'm planning following 2 events so far.

1. Temp absence in Indonesia (4 May - 12 May)
2. Permanent leave for my country as on 11 August

In my calculation, I'll take 12 days absence* in YA 2019, hence I'll be regarded as Malaysia resident both YA 2018 and 2019. Kindly find the attached my plan and correct me if I'm wrong.

*12 days absence breakdown
- 3 days in December 2018 (29,30,31)
- 2 days in January 2019 (1,2)
- 7 days in May 2019 (5,6,7,8,9,10,11)
