Hello,
I have received a job offer from a company in Waterloo.
I see the commute from Brussels to Waterloo is lengthy as the office is located away from Waterloo train station in  Chaussée de Tervuren . The train from Brussels to Waterloo takes 30 mins but next scenario is unclear to me as I see buses from Waterloo train station reaching my office location takes another 20 mins with some walk and these buses are every 30 mins or so.
How is with the accommodation scenario in Waterloo itself?
Anyone living in Waterloo, any tips, links.
Thanks.

Yup, I've lived in Waterloo for 25 years, and I'm now in Braine-l'Alleud (the city next to W)

Public transports are really bad if you go outside the "Chaussée de Bruxelles/Waterloo".

Either you put a bike in Waterloo train station (not a new one or someone will steal it for sure at night...)

Or you should consider going to Braine-l'Alleud by train (there's a direct train straight to BLA from Brussels which is much faster Waterloo's one as it stops at every city...)
Then pick the bus to the Drève Richelle / Quick (15-20m) + 5 minutes by walk

Thanks Alex. Wow 25 yrs is a lifetime.
Maybe I should look for accommodation in Waterloo itself or in Braine-l'Alleud
and the commute will be less then 30 mins.
Any link for rental apartments in these 2 areas?

AlexFromBelgium

Yep since I'm borned til my +/- 25 years old

Prices are pretty heavy around Waterloo which is one of the most expensive city in Belgium (along with Lasne and Rhode-Saint-Genèse), mainly because there's a lot of expats (because of St John Amerian school + Scandinavian one) and as it's not too far away from Brussels.

You might have a look at http://www.immoweb.be or any other to have an idea about the price of apartment and house.

amitmi2

Thanks, I will have a look.
I guess I will be ready to pay a higher rent then travel everyday 2 hours to and fro work.

Average rents in Waterloo are lower than brussels.

Have you heard of immoweb?

amitmi2

yes thanks but I see very few properties on immoweb for Waterloo.
I am looking for a studio or 1 bedroom apartment as I am single.
