Hi all

I was wondering if any one could recommend an experienced doctor who can also handle high risk pregnancies. I have already checked Apollo Bramwell but not too happy with what we'll get there. Have also sent an email to St Espirit Clinic but yet to hear from them.
Please share ur birthing experience (if any) in Mauritius.

Hi

Dont email Clinique du St Esprit as they are not too tech savvy. Call them and ask for an apnt with either Dr Brigitte or Dr Mario. They are experienced doctors (with  many many years in the field)and would know how to handle your case!

PM me if you need the contact details.

Hi

I had a very successful and comfortable pregnancy and delivery at Apollo Bramwell Hospital. I am curious what turned you off? Although my pregnancy was not high risk it was not run of the mill either. I was very happy with My OBGYN there and the nursing staff. It is the most modern medical facility on the Island. I will be having my second child there at Christmas all going well.

Hope you find what you are looking for. If you need the detail of my highly respected and experienced OBGYN just PM me.

Good luck

Hi there,

I had a high risk pregnancy suffering hyperemesis, and I would recommend Dr Mario at St Esprit clinc, and clinique Darne

Thank you all for ur replies.
Am planning to fly down to Mauritius in my second trimester (July end) and will definitely visit all of the doctors mentioned but I am still a little worried about the healthcare on the island. Though I'd want to deliver here ideally am planning to play it by the ear. I've decided to fly back to India if I do not find comfort with any doctor here (tho I hope that isnt true).

@ Alisa_Ram: Will take an appointment with both Dr Brigitte or Dr Mario. tho I believe that the clinic is really small, so am a bit concerned.
@ Irish Beach girl: I emailed Apollo and got a very very standard reply. Also d HoD of the gynaecology department was a very junior doctor in Delhi, my hometown so wondering if they will be able to manage my case. But then I know they have perhaps the best equipment and stuff so haven't entirely closed that option.
@ AndeaChad: Thanks. Am surely going to check out Dr Mario.

Actually I've already had a second trimester loss at 24 weeks and so I am very paranoid.

Vids,

they only do minor surgery and consultation at the clinic. They do deliveries at Clinique Darne,Clinique Mauricienne,Clinique du Bon Pasteur, Clinique De Lorette etc...But they have all their equipments; I'm speaking from personal experience.

Although I don't see eye to eye with Dr Mario most if the time (age gap can be a problem!), he's a fantastic doctor, and a great surgeon; so is Dr Brigitte. You might want to book an appointment soon, coz they are booked!

I am pregnant and cuttently seeing Dr Aumeerally. She is fantastic and works from clinic Darne in floreal and Bon Pasteur. She came highly recommended to me!! I would recommend you go and have a look at Darne, my friends all had lovely births there. For Dr Aumeerally, give a call to Bon pasteur and ask to speak to the receptionist for Dr Aumeerally.

Hi guys

I just wanted to post a little update. I am finally in Mauritius now (came 10 days ago) and visited Dr Guy Gnani for my pregnancy. He works out of his clinic in Floreal but delivers in Clinic Darne. I was really really satisfied with my visit to him. He has the experience and the best thing I felt was he listens to you and is ok with ur inputs unlike many doctors I've met. His clinic as well as the hospital is also very convenient for me since we have moved to Floreal. I even went to Clinique Darne n found the maternity department's nurses and midwives very pleasant (have to visit them every week for an injection).
So now I have decided to deliver my baby here. Hope all goes well.
Thanks all for ur inputs n in case anyone wants Dr Gnani's contact no. I wud be glad to pass that on.
Thanks
