Coming to Netherlands

Post new topic

DutchUgandan

Hello everyone,

My fiance from Uganda wants to come live with me in the Netherlands. Anyone experience with this?
He's learning for the basic test now. Hopefully it'll take him not more than 2 or 3 months to learn.
Then he'll come to Holland so we can get married. Then he'll have to go back for the MVV.
Is this the best order?
He just left from visiting me so he can't be in Holland the next 90 days.
How long did you guys wait for an reply for the MVV?

Thank you

SingleBlond

You are dutch and here in The Netherlands, am I correct;
-MVV is only for 3 months visit Visa.
When you wanna get married and settle as dutch citizens here, then the foreign partner must first get the exam in the foreign country first.

Here some official government web-links to get all more info.

First take your time to read the websites good, then figure out what is for you, so then you know what steps you have to take.
Nederland is a country with lot's of little law rules and bureaucracy.
(Hope your partner speaks/read dutch; otherwise feel free to call me!)  :cool:

To become official citizen with your dutch partner here in Nederland, there are also some (bureaucracy) grey roads. All legal:
- when you (r partner) already (lived) in a country in Europa then there is 'Schengen';
and then you are EU-citizen and free to live any country in Europe.  ;)
- Germany is easy simple to settle down firts: you can live in Deutschland for abt. 6 months and then you are EU-citizen and free to live anywhere in the EU.  :)

Ok; relax, all will be fine. Easy does it!

Groeten uit Nederland,

extra:
oh, and here already your first dutch lesson about The Netherlands;
in English you official say "Kingdom of The Netherlands", commonly known as "The Netherlands"
(yes; plural) and worldwide tourists name our country "Holland"
French people say "Les Pays-Bas"...
All different names for 1 and the same country: "Nederland".

Just means: Low-Land

our language is dutch; we locals say "'nederlands' (not deutsch: that is German)
