Greetings Team,
Looking to move to Costa del Sol this October any help would be greatly appreciated ie: renting, NIE number, registering a vehicle, residential area opposed to holiday area as I will be living here for majority of the year, what about Nerja, Mijas Costa? Are there any clubs, hiking, cycling, golf, keep fit.
Thanks, Trevor

Welcome

May I suggest you search the index here. There have been many questions similar to yours. Then if you ask say one, more specific question, at a time,  you will get the info you seek

Thanks,
I'll try to be more specific in the future.

It was not a criticism but a suggestion how you can get the info you need

Hi John,
Sorry, I was not offended. I suppose my first big question is "I need to rent accommodation with en-suite shower, wifi and off-road parking for my scooter in the Costa del Sol area between Nerja and Marbella" Any suggestions?

Hi Trevor,
here people tend to advertise on boards attached to the property (see photo).

- so you have to be on the ground to see the boards - I did this by going to Google Maps and StreetView - in Torrox you can see two different estate agents advertising on one flat.
August is holiday month so it will be a challenge to rent on the Costa right now!

Thanks Simon for your input, probably arriving October. I was looking at Airb&b, what do you think?
Cheers mate, Trevor

Whilst real estate agents like to have a for Sal / rent sign on a property, many prefer not to do so.

From a personal view I would prefer to look for a private notice, however, some agents use what appear to be private boards to entice people to contact them, believing they will save on the fees

Thanks John for your thoughts.

here in Granada, in order to run an Airbnb, the property owner must obtain a licence as a Tourist Apartment from the Ayuntamiento; this involves some obligatory legal certificates, inspection, minimum physical facilities etc.
I have some friends who run them very successfully, booking lengths are rarely more than a week and the price has to be competetive, they had to drop their prices a couple of years ago (to around 60€ a night).
But that's in the city centre and it's busy year-round, I don't know about the Costa but property seems quiet half the year; other than the huge Spanish holiday market it's agriculture and light industry.
A popular area among independent ex-pat's around Granada is the Valle de Lecrín, close to the Costa Tropical, it's a stunning village lifestyle.

All private properties being let for less than two months at a time, throughout spain, require the letting licence,   The requirements to do so vary a little from province to province.  The registration of guests is administered by the Guadia Civil or National Police, depending on which police service covers the area where the property is located.

For interest:   The requirement for the licence was brought in at the behest of he hotel industry with the intention of reducing the completion
