Hello everyone,

Once you’re settled in Bulgaria, you will need to make some basic purchases, like groceries or pay bills. Hence, it is essential to know the payment methods available in your host country.

Which are the most common payment methods in Bulgaria? Why would you prefer some forms over others?

Does the amount of money or the type of paid services (groceries, bills, rent, etc.) determine the choice of payment methods?

Are there any apps at your disposal which make the payment process easier in Bulgaria?

Can certain foreign currencies be used to make payments?

Have your habits in terms of payment methods changed since moving to Bulgaria?

Thanks for sharing your experience,

Priscilla

In Bulgaria,as method of payment you can only use the national currency, leva,or credit card r debit card.If you want to get leva ,you can use Atm or change any currency at the exchange

In my experience, EasyPay is essential. It is also helpful to setup a USD bank account and a LEV bank account. If you need to transfer money from your home country, Transferwise is the absolute best option.

Hi, I still pay mostly cash, except the amount exceeds a certain point, like purchasing winter tires, or pay for car Service. Then I use my FiBank debit Card. Very seldom I need to use my credit Card.
