Mm2h application

Post new topic

Hi all

This is an overview of the continuing saga of a new mm2h application.
l already have an mm2h visa but it was issued in sabah. Before I moved to the mainland I specifically asked it that was acceptable and was informed by a supervisor that it was fine. Now I still have 3 years to run, but my son's passport is expiring and so rather than run to kk l questioned Putrajaya if he can get the extension here. The answer was no, you need to apply for a new mm2h here.
so in February I did exactly that online. 4 months later I followed up with a query as to the progress, only to be told that there was no record of the application, and to submit again. In July I submitted another application online, prepared all the various documents and had them delivered by courier. I have the couriers receipt, plus a copy of the stamp of receipt by the mm2h dept. After a few weeks l again called to check on the status. The answer was, "there is no record of your application, l was advised to send an email. I did that, no reply until now. I opened the website and lodged a complaint, the site promises a response within 3 working days. Now 10 days later and guess what, zero response. I have also tried to call several numbers gained from site, many times. They either are busy or do not answer at all.

I would welcome suggestions as to how to proceed from here.

Clearly they are not responding to your on-line missives appropriately. Sadly my advice under the time  constraints would be to got directly to Putrajaya with your receipts and copies of your emails/responses. And bring all your documentation and passport and your sons old/new passports. Sons previous term enrollment and current acceptance. Make it clear that this can't wait. Arrive v. early to get a number. To transfer the visa they need the passport anyways...you'd have to make a trip to PJ to have it put in regardless. I will bet, given the circumstances they'll "fast track" it. At the very worst they'll give your son a short term visa extension, which for them may be more hassle than transferring his remaining MM2H term to the new passport.

Thank you for your kind assistance. Putrajaya told me that they can't issue an extension to his new passport since the mm2h was issued by Kota Kinabalu in sabah.

Ah...a bit confusing.

Since your visa was issued in Sabah you'll need to go to KK. Treat the two as almost separate countries. They don't share information.

We've all heard that Sabah has tightened their rules so that those who received visas there are expected to own or rent property there. That may also apply to schooling for the son.

So don't expect the torment to necessarily end.

One other alternative is to get a student visa for your son. Perhaps he is already on one. You'll need to talk to the school for the procedures for that. They (the school) appear to have accepted you original MM2H status for enrollment purposes so may not have an issue with assisting on this.

Every school has different policies. EG. https://www.sayfol.edu.my/admission/stu … plication/
