Hi everyone,

I heard a story that a foreigner got a fine 500 lei from police in Romania because he forgot the ID at home. Does anyone have experience about it?

Hi,

Nothing heard in this way. But you have to be stupid to be in the street without your ID. Especially when you are foreign because you are not able to prove that you are in order administratively.

So if it's the truth and he's fined, he has only what he deserves.

It can happen that one day a person forgets it. I dont think a person never forgot it one time in life.

Just curious that anyone dropped in this situation before. Police each country behaves differently , depends on the law. I heard a person forgetting it in jp and police took her home and checked it there. No fine , just reminding that she should always bring it.

Everything is always possible.

But as example, In Belgium, it is registered in the laws that any person is not in possession of its identity documents is likely to be a fine.

In western europe there are more and more people without an ID (illegals).
They should even more enforce to have an ID at hand.

I never ever left home without an ID.
