Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone here has experience obtaining an unmarried partner visa to the Netherlands. I am a Canadian citizen and my partner is a dutch citizen. Our relationship is quite new (approx 4 months romantic and 6 months knowing eachother) is there any tips or things I need to ensure I have ready? I am half way through my application and am planning on moving likely before my visa comes in. What is the average timeline for a Canadian to receive notice of decision and any advice you may provide mainly to a Schengen nation and this visa would be greatly appreciated.

There are no special rules or procedures for Canadian citizens. If you are halfway through your application, then I assume you have already found the Dutch Government (IND) website where it describes the process in great detail; just in case, this link will take you there.

To answer your specific questions:

Timeline - a maximum of 90 days.
Moving before decision - you can't do it I'm afraid, you can only apply for one visa type at a time.
