Dear All,

I´m considering taking the step into freelance translation full time and would like to know how to survive if things - temporarily or permanently - don´t go as expected incomewise. Obviously it´s wise to have a fat buffer of money for such situations, but am I entitled to any kind of unemployment funds, or is there a way for me to set up a private insurance for the same?

Thanks!

Hi again.

ZZP'ers are required to take out private insurance to provide for becoming unemployed; there is no state support like unemployment money.

Non-nationals can be deported if they become a burden on the State.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Cynic!

I´ve done some research on the topic of private unemployment insurance companies in NL, but was not able to find any. Are you able to help me with some?

p.s. I just read on the NOS website that this bank has stopped giving interest on savings accounts; food for thought.
