Out of Bounds Areas?

Hi Folks

Still checking out possible locations from here in the UK so a few more questions

Spotted some for sale in locations such as Armou and Pissouri

Now I have seen the various posts in the CPN about the various long running problems with landslide damage etc.

So are properties in all parts if these two locations to be avoided at all costs or are there specific parts only?

This has also made me wonder whether there are any other areas/regions with known property issues that should be avoided?

Thanks

Jim

Am not so familiar with those two areas abut as Pissouri is built on a hill id be a little wary ... but that aside Pissouri and Armou are lovely areas....  if you do consider them then be sure to get a really good land and property surveyor.. I do know a good one and is verified by at least two of my close personal friends

I heard similar things in some parts of gorgeous Tala...... Pegeia's gorge/ravine area near the stadium is also said to be a little suspect...

Thanks Toon - might take you up on that once we find a property

Any idea of typical survey costs?

about €500 plus vat @19%

Thanks for that - looks to be well worth the investment

both my friends saved small fortunes by using their surveyor

Would you recommend this type if survey for any purchase or just "suspect" areas?

i would definitely deploy this surveyor for any house purchase of my own.. and am hoping that may happen in the next 18-24 months or so.

I sure as hell wouldnt buy anything here without a pukka survey... I wouldnt buy a house without one in the UK... and if you have seen how houses are built here like I have (I have three new ones being built close to us and we see the progress every day) then you wouldnt even think twice about it...

Yeah - small price to pay for peace of mind and could even pay for itself if any minor problems are found that could be used in the price negotiations

Are you planning to stay in the same area?

Yes i believe in being safe and yes both my friends who have used this guy saved a fortune once they got their surveys...... so defo worth it . Gut feeling probably yes (and we have our eye on an area and housing style/layout that we really like - 6 years here and we know exactly what we want and will not compromise on it.....but i think ideally I personally would like to move to another village as this one is simply full of British gossipers and nosey neighbours (not always a bad thing)........ but its a different story for my missus she loves the activity here (ladies who lunch dancing and excercise classes shes the social butterfly and am not)  -  to be fair it does give us all we need and mostly withijn walking distance... but its the gossip for me I hate it and cannot be doing with it.

Thanks Toon - pretty sure that you have mentioned it before but which village are you in at the moment?

Jim

Pegeia.. or Little Britain

LOL - yes heard that about it and viewed a few houses there - I quite liked the look of the place but wife wasn't too happy with how hilly it seemed as she has a bad knee
