To be honest, ok we are paying a little bit more, but vegetables are readily available from the FB Celadon City support & residents groups & delivered to the door.

I am also getting general groceries delivered fro Lazada, Shopee & AEON & all at pre lock down prices, for example got a fresh delivery of sliced bread (sandwich) yesterday at 30k a pack  11k delivery & its fresh & good for making toast n jam or toast n honey & I keep it in the freezer & as required use it. Got tinned peaches 820g can 50k, jar marmalade 420g 40k. etc etc etc just ordered my regular 3 x Dove soap 100g bar at 16k a bar   11k delivery & thats better that at AEON.

Anyways thats enough on the shopping front.
No word here yet on Vaccines when & where & what. Notice now an increase in bad posts social media about why Vaccines roll out in D7 & D2 have taken priority over predominantly Vietnamese (lets say working class areas) & dont ask me to post a link cos its on FB chats but its there for sure.

On the positive side from my end,  Ms My's sister has made it through having the Covid & being isolated in an isolation centre  for about 18 days & now is back home to her house & family at Binh Duong but has to isolate now for 14 days at home.

Her youngest sister is still locked into the factory but is well fed & watered & actually getting overtime rates for Sat afternoon & Sunday so there is a silver lining for every cloud I suppose. Being ex offshore oil worker for half my working life lock down does not phase this goodolboy one bit. At least I can look out onto the beautiful gardens here & that beats nothing but sea as far as the eye can see.

BORING BUT IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED I COPIED & PASTED SOME VEG PRICES HERE DELIVERED TO THE DOOR CELADON CITY.

People complains about everything on social media.

Phu Nhuan is predominantly Vietnamese, with working class and middle class residents plus hundreds of thousand family businesses and a small number of single foreigners.  Still, some of the wards were vaccinated 2 months ago.  As reported in one of my previous post, Ward 15 in Phu Nhuan is a "Clean Ward" because every resident has received two shots.

Go Vap has a lot more working class residents than Phu Nhuan, and the vaccination has started there this week.

Boast of the day:

The 4hr 1m shown was not how long it took for me to reach that number.  It's the time I spent being active today.  The walk back and forth in the apartment took a bit over 3 hours.

I have a serious question, my wife lives on our homestead in the Delta, Phu Ninh, (Tam Nong) Dong Thap, there are a few factories down there, Shoes, Fish Processing, Clothing etc etc.  Okay, all closed now because of outbreaks, it is so serious, they locked down the towns all around and closed off anybody moving between them *(That's a good thing)*

Now to protect the kids, she has taken in five children between 5-14 yo to keep them safe and won't  allow visitors, video only.   Okay, we can afford it to keep them safe, she also feeds the neighbors when needed.   The entire police station, about 150 meters from my house, came up positive, as well as about 20/30 factory workers.   She hasn't a clue about vaccinations or testing for that matter, in that area, doesn't know who to contact, Police are not coming forth with answers, just "Stay Home!!, you will be told when you can get vaccinations".  I have heard (read) all sorts of positive reports about vaccinations, but seems to be only in the major cities, not the provinces.  Can anyone tell me how she can contact those in charge about vaccinations.  This area just split from Dong Thap, and is now under jurisdiction of Tam Nong - we live near not far from the Tram Chim Bird Sanctuary.  Who can she contact??. Other than the police.  Several of our long time friends working in the market have died from this, and Cong Ty is not coming further with any information...........they have been locked down 3 weeks now, and it was just extended yesterday for 2 more.   Anyone??  Thanx in advance

Tell her to go on facebook search "I'm from *** insert your district" find the post for NOTICE ON VACCINE AGAINST COVID-19 there will a link for your ward click on it and fill in the form to book they will contact you when you go"

Thats the process my GF found for HCMC hopefully its a gov incentive to inform each ward what to do.

There is also an online booking site but some on forum have posted still do with local ward.

If she is not internet savvy you can jumo on facebook for her and search and then send her a link?

Thanx Andybis, we will give it a try...........she is not Facebook savvy, but our daughter is but her computer usage is very controlled by the Ms's.    I'll convince her to try it.    Peace

I think he could even fill it in on line for her.

We have now registered on 3 different sites.

1st.......... Manually at the management office & then got a piece of paper with a bar code on it as proof of registration.

2nd........After talking to Ciambella & her explaining how that worked I decided to register us both on the national vaccination site just to cover everything & as been stated before on here by another member its really easy & is in English or Vietnamese what ever language you want to fill it in on. On that one I found it really good because after completing the registration it showed you bar graphs for all the regions vaccines given in %

3rd.........As of yesterday things Covid related in Celadon City complex picked up big time with as of yesterday 40  f0 noted at Ruby precinct & a guy came to our door & gave Ms My a link to another new Covid portal now specifically targeting residents in Emerald Block F & he urged we filled that in ASAP, (very simple name, apartment, DOB) as it will be presented at Ward level today for urgent review & action because of the situation here now.

Ms My's family live in the Delta Tien Giang & her father has had his first vaccination 2 days ago.

Here is the link for national site, if you do on computer and have google translate add-on you can put it in english.

I think someone said after a while it flicks into english if your computer default is english? Anyways you can send her the link or do it for her as GOB  said.

They send you a message when its your turn the day before, this area is being done and most have only waited a few days or a week, this area they seem to be calling anyone from 18  to mid 60's I think they have already done 65 .

paulmsn

The liaison in my building came this morning to tell me I will get the vaccine later today.  From what I could grasp, she is taking several foreigners and it is walking distance away.  She gave me a form to fill out, which my friend helped translate.

Jlgarbutt

Over in Thao Dien expat residents 18-49 could simply walk in with their passport and get vaccinated...

Sadly for me I'm on the other side of the road in An Phu . Coming soon hopefully

This Goodolboy is still waiting for the call. Got a message on Friday night to say go Saturday morning for jab, 5 minutes later got a message to say dont come will update tomorrow, still waiting! There is a list being updated regularly for Emerald Block F on Zalo & we are on it so when the call comes it comes. Out here age group 65 & over seems to have been thrown to the wind & its just when your name is taken from the list & even then its not in numerical order.
There is a form online in English & Vietnamese you can fill in on line when you get the call & saves time filling in the form when you get there.

Amazing

goodolboy

So today at about 2.00 pm & got a message from a neighbour that I was on the list of 20 due to be vaccinated at 5PM & to look out for the SMS to confirm it. He was on the list too & we could walk round to the school together & get it. Ms My was not on that list. So about 3.30 my neighbour called to say he was waiting for me at reception & I said but I never got the SMS & he said dont worry basically get your A** down here so I did. Off we went & it was about a 3 meters fast walk. As we enters I dutifully scanned the bar code to fill in my stuff about not having Covid on line & was ushered to a very nice lady who spoke near perfect English &  told me to forget that & she took me to a desk & got a paper form & helped me fill it in. From there she took me to another desk & again a very nice lady took my BP which by this time was sky high so I had to sit down & relax for 15 minutes & she took me back & now it was at acceptable levels to proceed to the doctors desk for a talk & then through to the vaccination line of 20. By this time I had a message from Ms My that she had got the call to come & she was on her way there so I waited for her to come  through & we went in for vaccination together. At the vaccination centre it was a total mix with oldies like me & young people in their 20's.

I must say when we got there it was just excellent the way they handled everything from checking in right through to leaving & the people were so nice & help full. So thank you Vietnam people for taking care of this goodolboy & his GF so well.

Two questions:

1- What was your talk to the doctor about?
2- When you said you and Ms My "went in for vaccination together", do you mean she was right by your side while you were given the shot?

My reason for the 2nd question:  I would like the nurse to fill out the certificate in details instead of just the manufacturer's name and the date of vaccination.  I can ask for myself, but my husband doesn't speak Vietnamese so I'll need to do that for him, meaning I must be within speaking distance to explain the request to the nurse.

So I was guided to the doctor & basically she went over the medical sheet tick box that I had already filled in & asked if I understood everything on it. She noted that when I came first for BP check my BP was very high & I told her that I was in a hurry to get there & I always get stressed out a bit visiting something like a medical but I explained that I check my BP on a daily basis & on average it is always in the region 125/75 to 130/80 & she was OK with that. She also said there was no Moderna available & was I ok with the Astra & I said I was ok with that. She signed & as I remember stamped the smaller of the two bits of paper. There were 2 doctors on duty at that time.

At the vaccine line we sat together & handed in our papers (20 at a time)  to a guy & they then he called our names one at a time & handed back the papers. There were 3 actual vaccination desks about 2 meters apart & I was at one & ms My at another. I was a bit overawed I must admit & I did not actually look closely at the bottle label I must admit. We then left that room, handed the papers to a lady at a desk & she separated the two & gave us back the smaller paper which I think is proof of vaccination & on it is stated Astra Zenica. We were then asked to sit down for 30 minutes & then could leave.

As you know Ms Ciambella nothing is pretty much set in stone for anything in Vietnam one set up is not necessarily same as the other but that was just our experience. Apart from actually getting the vaccine because we were a couple they had no problem with us sitting together. I am pretty sure with you talking Vietnamese you would be able to get them to give you the actual details you need off the bottle surely. In fact I am a bit vague about it but I think it was the doctor that entered vaccine details on the form.

Oh & by the way taking photos actually of the people & set up was lets say frowned upon but I have certainly seen photos on line. We took some photos of where we were sitting  for the 30 minutes but they did not like photos of the actual workers doing their job lets say.

By the way now back home & in relax mode my BP is 128/79

The high BP when going to see a DR is called "white coat syndrome" it was explained to me years ago when every time i went into hospital or see a Dr it goes sky high then comes down after 20 mins or so.

Usually happens when you have had visits when are in trauma and the brain remembers OMG Dr's again and up goes the BP

I've had the opposite.  Every time I went to see a doctor because of an illness, all symptoms disappeared.  Thus when she asked, "How are you today?" (never "What can I do for you today?"), my answer was always, "I'm OK."  I felt like a fool saying that.  Then I felt like a bigger fool saying I felt bad all week because of this or that, but I looked and felt fine as soon as I walked into her office.

No, I've never been a hypochondriac   In fact, I'm a very healthy person, rarely need to see a doctor except for check-ups (haven't seen one for almost 4 years now -- have my twice a year blood tests at Pasteur instead.)

So, what's the opposite of White Coat Syndrome?

paulmsn

They gave us the vaccine at a high school near the edge of my neighborhood.  The liaison called my landlord and told him 3 pm instead of 5 and he told me.  I guess they wanted to fill a slot.  I was the only one she took.  I found out when I got there that it would be AstraZeneca, which was OK with me.  They did offer to let me delay until another vaccine was available, but I want to be protected at least some.

During the query about my health, I made the mistake of answering that I have a possible allergy to sulfa drugs, which caused the questioner to seek someone out to explain what a sulfa drug is.  It's on my chart from years back, and I can't even remember why, but I have never had a reaction, and it's not an issue with this shot so I should have just kept quiet.

The testing went fine -- I sometimes have higher BP when I am nervous, but not this time.  I hardly felt the shot at all and don't have any pain at the site or any fever, so that's good.  They kept us there only long enough to distribute the vaccine certificates, when took about 20 minutes.

I found out, though, that they would schedule the second shot in eight weeks, which is a week after I leave for the US.  I considered asking to be scheduled earlier, but then I read an article about a study that showed that a second shot of Pfizer or Moderna works six times better at producing neutralizing antibodies than two AstraZeneca shots, so I think I will get the second shot in the US.

When you said "the testing went fine", then "I hardly felt the shot at all", did you mean you had a test and a vaccination both?

paulmsn

No, the testing of BP, pulse and temperature during the interview before the shot.

Added:  I am feeling some tenderness in the area of the shot 9 hours after, but it's not much.  My elbow and my wrist, which both have mild arthritis and give me pain sometimes, are hurting a bit.

Walk in to almost any pharmacy or clinic and get Pfizer or Moderna in most states in USA. Good luck.

I calculated a mathematical projection to estimate the end date of the lockdown in HCMC, based on the current drop.
Image2.jpg
The result is the approach of zero covid in mid-November, after which the lockdown measures can start to be relaxed.
I hope my calculations give you comfort.
Stay home, apply 5K and join the efforts of the government, Vietnam will remain an example for the world.

Added again.  The tenderness in my shoulder has grown into pain 18 hours later, but no more than I experienced from my last flu shot.  It didn't stop me from sleeping.  The elbow and wrist still hurt a bit.  Temperature is 98.5 F, which is a slight fever for me.  I'm normally 97.6.

According to the CDC, you have a fever if your temperature is 100.4°F (38°C) or greater

paulmsn

Yes, but everyone's normal temperature is different.  100 F would have me laying in bed.  98.5 F is slight but noticeable.

Day 2 after Covid Astra jab, feel just great, last night went to bed early 8pm put the head phones on & listening to YouTube drifted off to sleep soundly. Ms My was feeling rough all day & spent the most part of the day in bed & felt ok after a good sleep. From my family back in Scotland who all got the Astra jab that seemed to be the norm for most people.

Ms My was cleaning up when I went to bed, she took the trash out & then was stuck......the digital door lock would not work to let her back in, so she is stuck out in the lobby with her skimpy pink frilly bedtime gear on frantically pressing the door bell for 30 minutes which of course due to ear phones & sleep I did not hear! After she went & rang the bell of our neighbour & he called me on the phone & luckily by that time YouTube had timed out & I heard my phone ringing & after she hysterically explained she was locked out I got up & let her in & checked the door entry & the batteries had gone flat.
So there are lessons to be learnt here
1.............never leave the apartment without phone.
2.............change batteries regularly.
3.............in my apartment at Moscow Tower there is finger print digital door lock with an actual key as a back up. Here there is no key, so what happens if the batteries go flat when you are out, suppose its a break the door down scenario. yikes.png

Those digital door locks are great when they work, but as you say battery life can cause some problems.

Ours at the moment is the opposite... Leaving the apartment you often have to open and close the door a fee times before it will lock

We change the door batteries once a year, using Tet as a reminder. When the lockdown was announced last month, we changed it again after our landlord reminded us. He's the kind of person who prepares for all eventualities so we always listen to his advices and reminders.

My one at Moscow Tower plays a tune when its time to change, but this one not a dicky bird.
I am like your landlord I plan everything in advance but I now use the calendar on my laptop & smart phone for reminders...........its an age thing but very useful. Ms My cant look forward more than one day at a time, its something I have noticed a lot here not saying always but planning forward even 1 day some seem to find it difficult. If I ask her 2 different questions at the same time that seems to throw her too. When I was working one of my pluses noted was always my ability to juggle 9 balls & never drop one........not saying its like that now though. lol.png
