I suspect most is economic reasons. Fear of covid although still a serious concern is in my view safer here in the cities where vaccines are more readily available
oh no...................only 23,100 to the USD today at the money change place!!!
My family told me to get an app called PC Covid to get a green QR code showing vaccination status.
When I attempt to set it up on my phone it takes me to a "notification access" screen a giant popup that says:
"!DANGER!" Read and control notifications is a highly sensitive permission. If you grant this permission, your private information might be leaked and your property might be at risk. Here's what apps will be allowed to do:
Read ALL SMS including financial and bank info.
Read notifications from instant messengers including WeChat and QQ.
Read all notifications from social media and banking apps.
"I'm aware of the possible risks, and assume all possible consequences voluntarily."
I'm not clicking okay to that.
Is PC Covid an official government covid vaccine status app?
Is there an official government covid vaccine status app?
Maybe I'm misunderstanding something.
For now I'm carrying my stamped vaccination papers along with my passport.

PC-COVID is part of the Bluezone app,, it is "supposed" to be the new best thing but as you found out it is far from perfect.
Jigs has a long history of trying to get it to work,, i have it but it shows green but no vac info?
I instead use so "suc khoe dien" which shows green and my vac dates and information I screen grabbed it and printed it out and laminated it with a strig for my neck.
So now I too get ignored when I show it everywhere I go along with everyone else trying to show their phone greencard.
Results may vary,,,,

Official word is PC Covid will bethe app the track and trace government will use to log movements and vaccination status.. and yet still in development so for most users it doesn't show any vaccination details. Oddly if you go to your local store and scan the QR code to make declaration t records that

When you installed PC-covid did you get the same apocalyptic warning on your phone that you have to give the app developers unfettered access to your banking info/transactions, personal conversations, social media etc? I wonder if it only works like that on Xiaomis.
I tried getting the quot suc khoe dien app but when I go to the Google play store it doesn't show up, or isn't available in my region, something along those lines.
It's confusing.

Yes Jlgarbutt posted about seeing it (COVID 19 (CORONA VIRUS) UPDATES FOR ALL NATIONALITIES & STATUS) they even mentioned" Hanoi — Vietnam is planning to reopen key tourist destinations to vaccinated visitors from countries deemed a low COVID-19 risk from December, the government said on Wednesday, October 6, ahead of a full resumption targeted for June next year.
Has anyone seen which countries are on the "Low Risk" locations?
Be great having friends over for Christmas
We had a ride over from Phu Nhuan to Mega Market Hiệp Phú this morning around 10am, it was just about empty, no lines just walk in show green card take temp and in you go.
Maybe around 30-40 people in there shelves all stocked to the hilt with staff everywhere filling them up.
They had everything on the shelves and I didn't see any empty places for things they didn't have.
Bakery and cooked meat were serving, the meat section had all the normal stuff so did the cold meat and cheese, milk areas.
Fish was also stocked up along with vegies.
On the trip there and back the only things that we closed were restaurants and occasional biz being remodelled or permanently shut.
It was around 11am when we came back and the traffic was missing the usual school lunch run but other wise looked like normal, if you closed your eyes 4 months ago and then opened them back up today you would have thought it was around 9:30-10am on any Saigon morning pre Covid.
The news sites say Saigon is springing back to life sure does look that way, only difference I saw was no one standing around WITHOUT a mask plus Police pulling people over for no helmets due to now bigger fines.
When the restaurants open its going to be hard to see the difference between 4 months ago and now, lets hope people are more careful this time around when they go back out.
What's it like in your area?

Similar homes story over in D2 around Centara, shops all open and even the local Street market opposite the police station. If you didn't know better you wouldn't have been able to tell the difference form a year ago.
Lots of shop still doing the temperature check but didnt see anyone asking for covid vaccination apps or certificates.

Yep that was the vibe I got, even street vendors were in full swing.
Nice to see life coming back to the city.
Life in q8 at mid-day is like a normal early Sunday morning. Traffic is less than half, major routes come up from the south (Binh Hung, Pham Hung) with few trucks or cars or taxis, no buses, even less ambulances than normal. You can buy live ducks but not one quan an open. There is activity and the usual maniacs, but no vibrance. One one construction site is busy.
I believe it when they wrote "tens of thousands " escaped back to hometowns to see family. To live for free in the family house, adding some protein to their diets after months of rice and greens and water.
(We have given away so many bags of poor quality "hard" rice, war time provisions the party thought was sufficient. I'm sure it prevented starvation, but they can't blame the provincials for bolting now.)
Many empty houses around. Bicycle vendors starting to return to the hem. Traditional Mekong karaoke is making a comeback evenings, it was so quiet for months, in a bad way.

We are inviting family around for the first time in 4 months,, for a birthday, will be nice.
Today was Free Money Day in District 8. And I thought that only happened in Murica where there are money trees and streets of gold. The Hem Mayor told us to show up at a ward committee office this morning, we didn't see the giveaway publicized.
Rule per the Mayor: Every man, woman and baby who didn't have a regular paying job throughout the lockdown, gets two big ones today. Get there early. 1 Million smackeroos.
Those who have been working for salary will get compensated through their employers.
Let me do some figurin: I assume it is for everyone in Saigon, say 10 million peeps.
Yes foreigners included.
Let's estimate 500,000 official residents went back to hometowns, sorry losers, that's -
9,500,000 * 1,000,000 = $420,000,000 in American. About half a billion. Vietnam so rich.
That's way more than all the free rice, veggies and mì gói we got.
Hope y'all got some too.

Children are about to be vaccinated against Covid-19
The Ministry of Health is expected to issue guidelines on vaccination for children from 12 to under 18 years old, before October 15; Training materials on child vaccination are being developed by the National Immunization Program.
The specialized agency of the Ministry of Health is also discussing the form of vaccination implementation (at school or in the locality of residence). The information was announced by Deputy Health Minister Do Xuan Tuyen at an online conference with 63 provinces and cities to evaluate the Covid-19 vaccination work, on the afternoon of October 11.

Very odd to get direct emails, but if you have been there before for testing or any other reason maybe they just reach out to help boost vaccination rates.

Perhaps the hidden agenda is to get these ladies into the for-profit facility for their subsequent deliveries.
Oh dear me....................just back from the park inside Celadon City & now the ducks have been hit again.
Before lock down there were 4 white goose, 12 small tufted ducks, 6 Muscovy ducks.
Yesterday there were 4 white goose, 4 small tufted ducks, 2 Muscovy ducks.
This morning now down to 4 white goose, 3 small tufted ducks, 1 Muscovy duck. Surely they must be fed up with duck for dinner by now!

Thing is the ducks were fed every day by the residents & had no fear, so no need even to chase them. Now however the ones that are left wont even come near you & that tells a story! Suppose if you & your family are hungry & you got no job a nice roast duck would go down well. I have seen the management company about me buying some ducks to top up the stock but dont want my little effort to go to the pot in a week!!

Being free would be the biggest incentive.
Saw a guy across the road from my shop pick up a cat that fell from a ledge, put it in a plastic bag and headed home. Didnt try to find the owner, just saw a free meal.

Very strange times... We had someone post a photo of a small crab wandering on of the floors here, must have escaped and was making a bid for freedom. No one posted and claimed him/her though. Maybe it found the pool

Poor cat... No wonder they are not friendly on the streets when you come across them.
I remember sitting feeding one chicken nuggets outsider the HCM post office, it was all I could find nearby. Cat seemed to like them anyway
AT LAST A RESULT.......................After about 6 experts giving advice, me & Ms My trying at least 20 times entering my name in every permutation possible & having some Vietnamese friends & the Celadon Management trying for me with no success I got a phone call this morning from a guy that spoke perfect English telling me to come to the vaccination centre & he will review my data & get the Vaccine App working on my phone.
I went immediately to the centre & the young guy met me, sat me down at his computer, deleted all my stuff from the data base, entered it in as in my passport, phone, Vaccine Certificate DOB & as if by magic 30 seconds later I had my 2 vaccine Green card on the App. Man I am so happy now, that was not an easy journey & at one stage the phone was nearly going out & over the balcony!

Good result..now get ready for the next covid app battle.
PC COVID is the one they are planning to use later with some form of track and trace.... So far no one I know has managed to get the app to sync with vaccine database. One person in the building did.. briefly, the next day back to "no vaccine record available"
