Anyer, Carita or Pelabuhanratu

Harmonie

Hello jonathan87 and welcome to Expat.com! :)

I hope that other members will help you soon.

Good swim,
Harmonie.

Damar TBJ

Anyer, Carita (Jakarta - Tangerang - Merak).

Or Go to Pulau Tidung, it's a nice beach and close to Jakarta. You can get there by heading to Ancol, Marina port and use water transportation which approximately 4 hours trip from there to Pulau Tidung. Try to search Pulau Tidung in Google. Have nice trip! =)

anyone recommending pulau tidung as a great destination is really dreaming that it's swimable, i was digusted by the rate of the beach destruction, i went there couple of months ago

Damar TBJ

what? has it been deteriorating already? hmm lot's of people recommended pulau tidung like year a go... oh well, ur only opten left is Pelabuhan ratu then.. hopefully it still swimable.

Dian Anggraini

Well.. I will recommend Pangandaran Beach, 6 hours bus trip from Jakarta but worth, near to green canyon where you can swim and rafting

ochie

perhaps pantai carita or pulau umang??

Fly to Bangka or Belitung Islands, 50 minutes away. White Sands, Clear warm seas. Easy

Mashardi

hi, have you ever try to go to bira island.. you can do snorkeling and enjoying sunbath on white sandy beach.

GuestPoster2980

Dear Jon,

i would like to suggest pelabuhan ratu, but hmm it's not really close from jakarta thou, would takes about 6 hours by car ( as it is in west java ), but for the closer one i guess you could go to putri island or air, tidung island or some other more in pulau seribu.

if you have enough time then go to bali :) , the wave in sanur beach is quite friendly!

cheers,

Mitha

I had the same question like you a few months ago when i arrived here in Jakarta. The closest swimmable beach that I've been to is in Pulau Seribu (via Ancol is like 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on which island you want to go to.) The island I went to is Sepa Island. Its 1 hr and 30 mins away from Ancol. Its really nice there and the staff in the island are very warm and friendly. Its quite quiet when I went there because it was a holiday but I'm sure if you go there on a regular weekend, there'll be a lot of people there too.

The water is very pristine and clean! Theres a lot of fish too if you're into diving or snorkeling.  What I liked about the place is that I felt sooooo far from the hustle and bustle of Jakarta.

hope this is helpful!

cheers!

That place is pretty quiet but the beaches aren't bad. The journey takes you through some interesting countryside.

I stayed in a hotel in Cilengseung a few kilo away. The hotel is close to the beach and next to the only Alphamart in that town.
I think it was Rp180,000/night

hello, Mas fred..

lol, yes, you are correct! that place is a bit quiet, i went to the sunset beach part last time, which part of pelabuhan ratu that you have visited before?

the only reason why i went there was because i get bored here in crowded jakarta.

i never been to Belitung before, how was the beaches there anyway?

aww great xx let me know when it's ready xx how was it?? have you ever been to karimun jawa, anyway fred? xx

Fred

I'll upload the photos as soon as I get a moment.
Got home to join the rat who had managed to get into the house when we were on holiday.
You should see the ruddy mess the nasty little thing has left. At the moment, it's trapped in an upturned bucket in the downstairs bathroom awaiting, no, not awaiting because it won't be aware, but going to get a death sentence.

Meanwhile, enjoy Norman.

Oh my...

i hate rats, they ruin everything and bits everything, i hate them, really.. especially when i went somewhere fore a holiday n came back home with their mess all over the house...

feel sorry for you x

lol, i'd better do something else than to watch norman thousand times, :p

mitha xx

Fred

The rat escaped.
I hit it a good few times but it managed to get out.
I found where it had got in and bunged a couple of bits of wood down' suitable covered with lem tikus (rat glue).
If it tried that route again, it's as dead as the mosquito I've just got with the insect murdering bat.
I'll start sorting out the photos in the morning.

Oh my, Fred you are such a rat hunter lol..

Hmm I ever tried the rat glue with the rat poison put on the center of that glue.. And I really hate them.. God, how many times should I clean the house lol..

Ah okay, just let me know.. Anyway, what's your plan for the new year's eve, Fred? Xx

Fred

I'm unsure what I'll be doing on new year's eve.
A mate is wandering over from the UK tomorrow so I'll meet him when he's recovered from the flight then wander out and show him where the English pub is.
I, being a good Muslim chap, won't be boozing and I'll be home early because it would be seriously unfair to leave my wife and kid alone for long.

GuestPoster2980

Wow.. I'm so glad to hear that there's still a good, responsible guy out there.. I mean it, hehe..

Anyway, yes you'd better spend the time with the family :)

And I really can't wait to see the photos and probably a video from belitung..
Never been there and really have a plan to go there soon with my bf..
Have a great evening anyway xx

Fred

I'm not good, just scared of my wife. :D

I'll skip my bike ride in the morning and start on the photos.

GuestPoster2980

Lol.. I really hate that words..
Remind me of someone else lol x
Aww thx, I can't wait!! Xx

Get a passenger boat at Sunda Kelapa(near Ancol) & reach the nearest coral island of "Thousand islands"(Paulu Seribu) just in half an hour & enjoy very clear sea.u may also go bit farer & stay overnight in Bidadari island& listen to the gentle lullab of  waves beneath your bed.it is something unforgetable.
enjoy jakarta &mingle with poeple but do not go to dangerous places.
