Opinions please...….would Cabrera be a good vacation spot for an older gentleman?

Welcome.to the.forums.

The answer is - it depends!  What are you looking for.in a vacation?

Everyone is different and no one can assume.what you may like.

No beach... few fancy restaurants....

wouldn't need a car.....

might work.........up to you and your preferences

I stayed in Cabrera for a few days earlier this year. There are some cheap Air BnB's with outstanding ocean views. The vibe was very laid back and quiet. There are a handful of full sit-down restaurants, but that's what I liked. I also ran into other English speaking travelers. There are beaches within 30 minutes, and I believe Playa Grande is not much further down the road. Having a local lady friend helps too.

If you want to relax and keep a low profile, I'd say to give Cabrera a try. If you find that you don't like it, then head down the road to Cabarete or Sosua.
