Hello There,

I have a few questions to ask.

Just a little of my background story, I am from Zimbabwe and have just been accepted for a 4 year course in Verna and got most of it done but my funds a bit low for the first fees payment and I am really looking forward to do this course. So:

1) How can I find work in Verna and in which fields are easy to get into. I have already received my MOA document but I am not in the country at the moment.
2) Are there other channels I can use to work for my funding a few months before I start school.

Anything you are welcome to add.

If you have a student visa, I believe that as a non-EU citizen you are not permitted to work in Bulgaria unless the work is part of your course of study or directly connected with it. The normal process is for the non-EU citizen to find a job first and the prospective employer will then arrange a work visa; most employers aren't interested in the hassle involved and prefer to employ someone who is an EU-citizen or who already has a valid work visa.

You CAN perhaps find work in the "unofficial economy" but it will be badly paid - if you are found out you will be arrested and deported.

Lastly, it might be useful if you were to find out the correct name of the city where you hope to be a student....

Hi,

So there are basically 2 point in your post:

1. How to arrange a work permit;

2. How to find a job (asap).

For No. 1 the best way is to find a company that would employ you and then this company to apply for a work permit for you.

Which leads you directly to No. 2.

Basically many of the students try to find some kind of a job to complement their income, while studying. So this is nothing new. Student friendly jobs are offered by different companies, especially in the outsourcing business or the hospitality.

If you opt for the outsourcing, then you can probably find a job in some of the call centers, which can offer half day options or even night shifts, so that you can combine it with your studies. In this case you will need to know a foreign language - best case French, German or Spanish. Not sure about African languages but worth checking.

If you opt for the hospitality sector, then Varna is the right place being a seaside resort, with many hotels, restaurants, bars, etc. In this case English could be enough. The downside of this is that the summer season ends in September and you will most likely need to find another job.

But that's a good start - BPO and Hospitality sectors are some of your best chances, based on the information provided so far.

And start learning Bulgarian .... the sooner the better.
