Borders Open? Visa

Anyone know if the borders are open to Cambodia for the simple (lol)process of stamping a visa/vec?

I can't see why it isn't but if not how do you get a stamp for vec

The short answer is no, it's not open.  Long answer is in some of the long recent threads.  I've read them but as they didn't directly affect me right now I haven't paid much attention to them so I'm sorry I can't be of more help.  Basically you are out of luck and will need to pay an agent for an extension.  I don't have all of the details but someone else that went through it recently will likely reply.

I am not attacking you.

I am not criticizing you.

I know you've only been posting to the forum recently, so you are likely unfamiliar with how to navigate things

[all of that for the sake of the mommy troll]

Why are you creating a new thread when people have already been attempting to help you in this thread which you created?:

When you say "I can't see why", does that mean you are totally unaware of government restrictions which have now been in place for well over a month?

If so perhaps I can point you to the thread(s) with that info.

Please let me know and I'll be very happy to help.

Meanwhile, you wrote this in the other thread:

Border is shut tomorrow, apparently no guarantee it would be possible anyway.

Got offered a three year residents card for 650 dollars!
Also was asked for 370 dollars to renew 3month visa in country

I think the government should be helping as we are now trapped

Please understand that a VEC will NOT give you residence status in the eyes of the government.

Instead you will be lumped together with tourists when it comes to most current restrictions.

That means you will currently be restricted from entering the country, which also means you won't be able to validate a new VEC.

(It sounds as if you perhaps went ahead and got a VEC and you now want to begin to use it?)

Since you have recently married a Vietnamese woman, a TRC (Temporary Resident Card) is likely your best option.

Others can let you know if it's best to pay an agent to do that (likely for less than $650 USD) OR to have your new wife help you do it through immigration.

Agent and lawyer fees are not set by law here, so you can probably get a better deal.

As a UK citizen, I'm virtually certain you can get a better deal than $370 USD for a 90 day extension of your current tourist visa, possibly as low as $250 USD, depending on the agent.

I hope this all works out for you.

Borders not open yet, and if they were I believe anyone who enters is still subject to 14 days isolation or quarantine

VEC is daft.. get one but have to leave to activate it. Borders closed so cannot do this

Go to immigration and get one month extension on existing visa and hope in a month border run is possible. If not repeat extension again.

Stamp at immigration for extension is identical to the one you will get on exit thus activating the VEC. Same info.. same Ink not sure how it's a different process.

For now if your visa hasn't expired you can extend the visa for a month yourself. Forget the expensive agent option.. there is a form you can download and complete, I cannot remeber the name.. something to do with registered address while living here. Your partner by marriage can sponsor you. This will need to be verified at local police station. Take this along with passport to immigration.. pay 10 USD and collect the passport a week later.

If you're going to immigration in HCM don't go to window 17 as they will refuse.. go to window 14 and it will be accepted

And the government just said they'll keep it closed for a while...

Thanks for a helpful reply
I have  been extending a month at a time I never use a tour firm!
Do it myself but I obviously would prefer to have a six month gap instead of a few weeks

May well of posted similar but not same article some weeks ago and as we all know times and info change daily, so it's useful to ask others in case I'm missing something.

Most other threads get bogged down with petty arguments and are  pointless as an info source then.

Do it your way, but when you keep your related posts in the thread you created, the real experts here (not me) can put everything together in context and give you a more informed answer.

It just makes that outcome less likely when you scatter your breadcrumbs across multiple threads

Might be more helpful to stop point scoring and only add useful replies 😉
