The lessons of the crisis in Italy

Post new topic

Loïc

Hello everyone,

While there is still a certain amount of uncertainty in our lives, the situation seems to be beginning to change in Italy and globally.
We have had to show courage, tenacity and even ingenuity in many areas, in the way we work, in being alone or with our families, in how we look after our children, or we channel our stress and emotions in the face of this health crisis that has turned our daily lives upside down.
We wanted to hear your feedback on these last few months in Italy.

What will you remember from this very special period?

Have these unusual times allowed you discover things about yourselves or your loved ones?

Did this period lead you to make changes in your lifestyle that you would like to maintain in the future? If so, which ones?

How do you plan for the future in Italy? Have the last few weeks caused you to review your priorities or certain projects?

Thank you for your contribution and take care of yourself,

Loïc

Even though I arrived in January, just a short time before the pandemic was declared, I felt safer in southern Italy (Lecce), where I am living now, than I would have felt in southern California. It has not been easy having restrictions on travel and not being able to see groups of people but I never saw shortages of supplies in the grocery stores and people seemed to have respect for each other.

I look forward to the future when I can travel around Italy again.

Ciao James.

Interesting post!  We spent a month living in Lecce in  Jan 2017 and loved it.  The big shopping center was a plus, outside town, but the small restaurants in town still have us talking.  How is it in warm weather?  John

It is starting to warm up here. I've gone to the beach a few times since the lockdown rules have been loosened. The water still isn't warm enough for me to go swimming yet, but the beaches are beautiful and very tranquil. I'm planning to go with a friend this weekend on a trip around the tip. We plan to spend a night in Castro, another night in Santa Maria di Leuca and then a final night in Santa Maria al Bagno.
