How much cash can you take into Brazil?

You can bring an equivalent of 10,000reais in foreign currency to Brazil. That is the sum of all cash, checks and traveler´s checks in your possession upon entry. In reality you can bring more than that WITHOUT incurring taxes or penalty AS LONG AS you
declare them upon entry! If you don´t you risk the excess amount of being confiscated
by the RFB (Receita Federal Brasileira).

As said $R10,000, reals anything over must be declare or it will be taxed or forfeited,
