Moving from France to Spain

Hello. I have done a lot of research, also my son is married to a Spanish girl, and lives in Spain.
We are 61 years old, and have lived in France for 10 years. We do not have French citizanship. (Carte sejour). Is there any benefit having one, for moving to Spain?
Would like some grassroots advise, from someone who has recently gone through process.
From what I understand, here are the main criteria...
9,000 euros in bank
Private health insurance
Residency
All of which can not happen until actually living there.
Our house is on the market and ideally we hope we can move before Brexit, Dec 2020
Any advise would be much appreciated.
Thank you

You do not say if you are EU nationals or not

That makes a big difference.

Assuming you are UK national

You have the right to live in Spain.  In your situation you need, as a couple, to prove annual income of about 9,000 euros, savings of that amount or the ownership of a property

You need 100% medical cover with no co-payments and no excess charges.

That’s it.

You will need to register within the first three months of moving to spain.

With brexit looming those conditions may change if you do not register before the end of the transition period.

Thanks for that info. We are UK nationals, my son seems to think if we had French citizenship, it would go in our favour!? Any thoughts?

The rules of residency in spain apply to EU Nationals. And as we know we must all be treated equally.

However, as I said, after the transition period uk nationals will not be EU nationals so, logically, unless a special deal is done, they will be treated as non EU.

My wife is non EU, so I know how much more demanding the requirements are for them.
