Expatriate Holidays in Japan

Post new topic

Hello everyone,

You might be getting more and more eager for vacation, whether in Japan, or elsewhere.
It's the perfect time to rest and rebuild your strength, or on the contrary, spend some energy doing things you love, while taking the time to enjoy your loved ones!

With the turmoil of the last few months, the next holidays will feel extra special this year, that's why we would like to know a little about your plans.

Do you have any plans for this year's holidays?

Do you have some visibility on the borders opening of your host country?

Will you stay in Japan or go abroad?

If you stay in Japan, what would you like to visit there? If you go abroad, where will you go?

Finally, what made you decide to go? If not, where else would you go?

Thanking you in advance for your contribution!
Have a nice day,

Loïc

Hi Loïc,

I don't live in Japan but usually I do travel there three or four times a year and often with the family. Sometimes I go for photography or to make reviews. Sometimes I go to see some of my favourite music bands and to hang out with my musician friends. Sometimes to visit the flea markets and just enjoy a relaxed time eating and exploring and sometimes just for the shopping.

This year is a definite no no. Without really understanding whether or not they are allowing tourists in at the moment, I am not planning to travel anywhere at all. One of my good friends owns a jazz club in Shizuoka Prefecture and he had stopped bands from performing at his place and concentrated on his food business for pick up and delivery. However, he recently set up a huge plastic sheet to separate the stage from the audience and is again allowing bands to perform. However, we still have no plans to visit him. In fact many bands are now performing live online where you can pay to watch.

My next trip would probably be in the Kansai area again or possibly in Hokkaido, but I haven't really thought too much about it or done any planning. My entire family really miss Japan and we talk about it often with ideas of which part we should visit next and we reminisce a lot about the fun times and the amazing food there.
