Did new work practices emerge over the last few months?

I'm nearing mandatorty retirement age and have missed a number of opportunties to work from home simply because I wasn't fast enough. Quanity seems to have over taken quality. fast and cheap is what this new economy demands. If your gonna take a few weeks to finish it you proably won't get paid.
