I need help, I know of some very poor people in prey veng Provence and unfortunately they can never win no matter how hard they work, for example, they rent 1 hectare of land, plant rice and harvest some type of flower to get the seeds which they sell for about $3.50 per 50kg. Bag, so all up they make $800 for the year, less pay rent for the land and lose 1 third of the crop to a golden snail as they cannot afford $100 every 3 months for snail killer, the husband does odd jobs but some days they do not eat, so I am happy to give them a 99 year loan to start a home business ie, grow chooks and ducks plus they could sell the eggs at the local market, any suggestions people, Willyboy.

Hello Willyboy.

Farming this way is a loss/loss situation. Wrong crops that attract snails bring only loss of money.

In this case they would have to buy $400 snail killer, to get an extra $270 harvest, so in fact it costs $130 and that money is thrown away.

Breeding chicken, geese, ducks is a much better operation. The meat does not only serve their own needs but is easy to sell as everybody eats chicken, duck or goose. On top the eggs bring extra money.

Let them not take all the eggs, if you have a male you can be sure that the eggs are fertilized so keeping some and let them hatch means a sustainable number of chicken, ducks and geese.

When there is enough offspring of the male, change to another male to avoid inbreeding and disease.

If there is a water body available which they can control, breeding fish, water snails, lotus flowers, eggplant are possibilities to earn some money.

Just some ideas, keep up the good work!

Joe
