Is it legal to work remotely for a US company while living in Ghana? If so, then how? I have been looking everywhere for an answer to this!

Hi,

Why are you asking that everywhere ?

When you said that on Botswana forum ?
"Thanks! Right now I am only a student but I want to hopefully get a job here in the US as a travel agent once I graduate. Thank you for the information!"

Be clear and honest when you ask something. And when you're looking in several directions...

A lot of people are working remotely due to this pandemic. About 9 years ago I worked here remotely  for a South African company. I'm married to  a Ghanaian so a resident's permit wasn't a problem but that had a no work clause however think there may be a grey area if the company doesn't have a physical presence in Ghana. People do Web design etc for overseas clients and then there's Airbnb. Not sure how all these types of work are categorised by Immigration.

Thank you for the information!

Very legal. I work remotely as a freelance writer for brands in Canada  and USA and I get paid via paypal. I see it as leveraging the power of the internet to make $$ and spend cedis

As a Ghanaian Citizen you have the right to live and work in Ghana. The person asking is an expat so doesn't have those rights without the necessary documents.
