Helping student in research

Hi,

I hope all goes well with you and your loved ones.

My name is Shatha. I’m a Saudi PhD student from Riyadh and I study Applied Linguistics in the UK. Due to the current circumstances of Covid-19, we unfortunately had to return back to Saudi Arabia and complete our studies remotely. I’m currently in the stage of collecting data for my research for which I need monolingual native English speakers to kindly participate in my online study which includes language-based tasks. The study aims to look into the difference between native English speakers and Arabic learners of English during sentence comprehension. Finding participants is so difficult in the current circumstances! So I have been thinking of ways to reach out native English speakers. When I googled, I found this website and thought to write a post and ask whether you can please volunteer and help. It is an online 2-part study that needs to be completed over two sessions a week or so apart. You will be able to complete the study on a laptop or desktop computer, not a mobile device or tablet.

In the first session, you simply need to read some sentences that will be presented to you one word at a time, and answer some comprehension questions about what you have read. The first session should take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

In the second session, you again need to read some sentences on a computer screen, but this time judge their grammaticality. You also need to complete a task in which you have to decide whether or not a series of words are real words in English. The second session needs to be completed at least one week after the first session and will also last approximately 30 minutes.

This study has received ethical approval by the University research committee.

If you want further information or want to discuss about in WhatsApp or Skype, please let me know. 30 minutes out of your day means a lot to me and will help the research community.

I am looking forward to your favorable feedback.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and cooperation.
