Any ideas the earliest Phillipines will resume tourism?

I'm trying to enter as a tourist, so I can get my visa extended that way.
A vaccine for which of the 30+ strains? Waiting for a vaccine isn't the smart move, considering the virus can mutate.

Depends who bribed their corrupted government. Probably Chinese one.

Thank you for removing the racially offensive post.
I am guessing a good number of tourists will put off travelling for tourism. I, for one, postponed my family's vacation to at least mid-2021, that is, if a vaccine is working. I will not be getting the first release of the vaccine. I will wait and see the results from the general population, and if all looks good then I will go and get it.
If a small country like Singapore is still unable to open up the country to tourism (which believe me she endeavours very hard to..just as hard as the Philippines)...I don't see how the Philippines will manage it earlier than anyone else.
Nothing about being more intelligent/smart...its just basis common sense.

Singapore is approximately 719 sq km, while Philippines is approximately 300,000 sq km, making Philippines 41,613% larger than Singapore. Meanwhile, the population of Singapore is 5.9 million people (98.4 million more people live inPhilippines).

A glimmer of hope.

I'm not coming in as a tourist but as a "tourist". I just wanna use that to extend my visa, so my girlfriend and I can get married .
Right .. I'm going to stick my neck out .... Does she have all the paperwork ready to get hitched.. Do you have all your paperwork ready for marriage, What part of the Philippines will you be landing . On the flip side ! Does your girlfriend have a passport ?
Yes to everything and Manila. We'll be setting up homebase in Cavite.
Yes. She has never been married.
Arcadieus wrote:Yes. She has never been married.
No ... Do "You" have a Cenomar ... You know the one where they do a search to see if you have ever been married in the Philippines .. Cost about 350 peso at the Town hall to make the application and then takes about 3 weeks to get back from the PSA under normal circumstances .
I have signed affidavit from the US embassy saying I've never been married. If I need to get what you are referring too, I'll get it when I arrive. We aren't rushing to get married, but we want to get married within a year of arriving.
The whole point of coming in as a tourist, was to give us to extra time, since you can extend your visa to up to something like 3 years.
Right , I am going to try to be nice . You have said your lady has a passport ,She has a better chance to leave the country than for you to entre . If you can swing it that way and get married in a third country then "YOU" have a 50/50 chance to entre the Philippines with a bona fide marriage certificate. I am not an immigration official.
Here are 6 of the 60 countries that are Visa Free for a Phil Passport
VISA-FREE
Taiwan – 14 days (they just extended their visa-free program for Filipinos until July 2020!)
Singapore – 30 days.
Indonesia – 30 days.
Malaysia – 30 days.
Hong Kong – 14 days.
Macau – 30 days.
Fiji – 4 months.
Thailand – 30 days.
They are the top six and none of them will allow both of you to entre
Trust me we thought of that but I guess I didn't mention our situation. We are both currently in Romania. We have floated the idea of just doing it here, but she wants to get married in her home country which is totally fine. See my dilema?
Looking from outside, this is how I see this may work.
At this time, you cannot enter the Philippines due to current restrictions.
You can get married in Romania. If you really want get married I do not think where you are will matter. You can still do a nice church wedding once both of you are eventually in the Philippines. File your marriage with the Philippine embassy in Romania and get your Philippine residency or visa (not tourist visa) from there.
Im not a immigration officer or soecialist, but i have live here a little longer than 4 years. Your best option is to get married in romania. At the moment the only people allowed in the Philippines is filipino citizens or permanent residence visa holders or spouses with legit papers. If your serious about getting married go to the local municiple hall or court house and get married. Get your marriage license then head to a Philippines embassy and apply for tourist visa. To get into the country you have to have a pre authorized visa. All in all in my opinion should take a month.
Should note there is no embassy here for the Philippines.
Another way get in the Philippines is to follow Carlos Ghosn's example.
If there is a will, there is a way.
I honestly was just looking for an estimated time when the Philippines would reopen. I know it will most likely be in 2021, but when is the question?
I imagine with 12-13% of their GDP gone from tourism, they'll try to figure this out sooner then later.
Edit: some sources are saying it's closer to 24-25%.
He does not need one only the decree from the embassy

If there is a will, there is a way.
Or a visit to 'Recto U'
They will print a % of their GDP in fiscal stimulus, ease rates and kick the can down the road. Don't see tourism opening to broader public for a while.. most countries in Asean/Apac with far lower infection rates are only starting to discuss bilateral travel corridors.
I'm actually fine with that. Just means a better exchange rate for the rest of us.
Regarding the visa free or visa on arrival countries mentioned above by Nuckinfuts, there are various stories doing the rounds that Sri Lanka has or will soon be opening its borders for tourists from all countries and not just a select few counties. You will no doubt need to be tested for covid 19 before departure and again on arrival but it seems the best option at the moment if the stories are true.
when will tourism open?
probably when there is vaccine and everyone has health pass id proving they got it

So what are they going to do? Break down your door then at gun point make you take the vaccine or shoot you?
I don't know why people think vaccines are some sorta cure all. There's over 33+ strains of Covid-19. That means 33+ different vaccines would be needed.

What are we talking about here?
Are we talking about sitting in your living room?
No. We talking about travel.
Do they break down your door to make you wear a mask?
No. But can you go anywhere in Philippines without it?
No you cannot.
Same with the vaccination. If you want to go to the store or anywhere else or travel anywhere then you will need to have it.
And the fact that they make you wear a mask and now ever a face shield should make that kind of thing real for you.
Or they can use social pressure to get 100% compliance. They may say that they cannot open up and remove restrictions until everyone complies.
Having seen what has been forced so far can you really doubt this is a possibility?

unfortunately effectiveness has nothing to do with it
I left this same answer on another thread here in the forum asking the same question. On Sept. 5th the Dept. of Tourism issued a statement addressing domestic travel & tourism. Included was this sentence: " Once border controls are lifted by other countries the DOT foresees regional international visitors & tourists by the second half of 2021"

Australia, New Zealand, many EU countries and many other nations around the world have stated that they will not open their borders until vaccine is available. They do not mean that it just exists. They mean for people to take it.

No one is selling vaccines,. You need some reading comprehension.
In fact just the opposite of what you just "spouted."
But if you think mandatory vaccine is not what is being pushed then you are dumb indeed.
You claim to be from Australia and you do not know what your own leaders are saying about requiring vaccines? Are you sure you are from Australia?
https://www.cnbc.com/2020/08/19/vaccine … -says.html
Maybe if you would be more thoughtful to understand what you are reading before you run your mouth you would not look so foolish.
and you suck it yourself since you are the pro

Day one, December 2019: One case, one strain, one death.
(Nine months later) September 2020: 27 million cases, 33 strains, 881thousand deaths.
Future: 2.7 billion cases, 3300 strains, 88,100,000 deaths.
(my opinoin, considering rate of growth, with the present numbers, without a solution)

if you under 80 and don't have ten other diseases then you be ok
i think when they say positive with no symptom what they really mean is broken test
I learned long ago never to worry too much about things I can't control ...All I can control is my very own response to any kind of crisis.
And from what I hear this definitely is not going to be the last one...vaccine for this current strain or not.
