Hi Chaps

New here. Nice to meet you.

I have been looking into life insurance to care for my Thai wife and son when I eventually curl up my toes and I am finding it difficult. I asked for a quote for 300,000 British pounds over 20 years and the cheapest has been 3,500 pounds a year which sounds expensive.  I'm a relatively healthy 55 year old who doesn't smoke but drinks socially. They say it would be cheaper if I owned property or a business in the UK, which I don't. Anyone have any ideas, links or tips that can help.

Much appreciated
Cheers

Hi PaulWyatt333
I am looking for medical insurance with the $100k coverage for my wife 69 and myself 68 coming over in January. We are both in good health and non smokers.
Can you help?

We are both on Type "O" visas due for renewal end of January 2021

For the medical insurance you could try Allianz, AXA or Prudential etc. Many companies  won't accept applicants over the age of 60 unless they have an existing policy with the company but some do accept people in their sixties. I would hurry to decide on a company too as once you reach seventy it might be much more difficult to find a company willing to accept you. I am in my sixties and also don't drink or smoke and they accepted my application in Indonesia without a medical check.

If you have had past operations or major illnesses then they might reject your application or request that you have a medical checkup. The other thing is that they may not cover you for certain illnesses for the first 12 months with the exception of cancer, Covid, accidents etc.
