Hey friends,

I'd like to get some general tips on moving to Iceland as a student. Thank you!

Hei!

All is indicate on the website of the both Icelandic Universities (University of Iceland, at Reykjavik and University of Akureyri). Probably, living at Akureyri is pretty cheaper than Reykjavik but it is a small town (about 15000) at the middle of almost nothing, even if it is the second town of Iceland and having a small international airport.

For the language, many studies are taught in English and nearly all people speaks English (above all in Reykjavik area, Akureyri and cities of the South). But, if you want to work moreover your studies, it is better to learn a little the Icelandic language (proposed in the both Universities), above all if you work in shops, restaurants, any jobs where you will be on contact of inhabitatants.

I see you come from Austria. If you are an Austrian citizen you don't need visa, Iceland taking part of EEA/Schegen area. Only to be registreted before three month at your municipality.

Here is all I can tell you about your request :)
