Dear All,

I am Indian, Working in Vietnam from last 5 years.

Yesterday I had a bad incident with a cheating Indian in Vietnam

He met me at Sunrise  City View, District 7 and he is already drunken.

He told that he is staying in bình đựng and he has 4 restaurants ( I don't want to tell the Hotel Name).

He came with his Vietnamse wife and he lost his wallet, they want 1 million to go back and they will transfer the money to our bank account.

As per the Security people information,  these couple are coming to different Shopping Malls and finding expat people and asking 1 million from each person ( I guess, as there is no business in
Indian restaurants due to Corona, they may started to cheat the people like this).

As per the Security information, They are targeting  50 people per day.

I Lost my money by these cheating people.

I just want to advice that Don't help anyone unless you know them already.

God will take care of the genuine people who are in need.

Don't be a kind person like me to be cheated by the fraud people.

I am just posting it by expecting that I can save one or two people from this kind of fraud people.

A friend of mine had exactly the same experience in district 7 last week!!! Lucky he told them to "go away" so no money lost.

In Australia it's been going on for years, some idiot comes up to you outside (fill in the location) asks for money (fill in the excuse) you get abuse if you don't give and get suckered if you do.

You coming for India must have heard of the Virus, Microsoft or help desk scam where someone from (fill in the India city) calls to help you with a fake problem for money.

Then there is the famous Nigerian email scam you have been selected to receive multi millions from (fill in the blanks) for a small clearing fee, send your money and details to www.wescamalot.com

Rule 1. Your money is hard earned don't give it away to some dodgy looking sucker in a car park.
Rule 2. See rule 1.

Happened to me in Brooklyn NY 20 years ago. Live and Learn. Thanks for the posting.

Dear All,

I have my own personal way for dealing with such circumstances based on my own ethics and morals:

I always want to be responsive (if possible) to the basic needs of humanity.

In my mind those include food and water and shelter and clothing and health care and transportation and communication.

I refuse to give money to strangers for just about anything.

However, if I can provide assistance in kind, and I can afford it, I'm glad to do so.

If someone is hungry or thirsty I will offer to take them to a highly public restaurant and eat with them or have a beverage with them.

If they truly need clothing, such as a coat in cold weather, I will take them to the nearest thrift store or bargain store and get them something basic.

It's pretty cheap to get somebody one night in a motel here in Vietnam, so I would go with them to a motel and pay for one night's lodging.

Offering to take them to the bus station and purchase a ticket for them is my approach.

Taking them to the nearest hospital and paying for their estimated treatment cost in advance is another.

Taking them to the nearest cell phone store and offering to pay for their use of a phone while on premises, or to an internet cafe and paying for their time in advance.

Please forgive me if it sounds like I'm virtue-signaling here.

I'm actually sharing a technique which normally keeps me from having to give anybody anything, because all of those offers I've just listed are almost always turned down, roughly 98% of the time.

On the rare occasion where someone accepts my offer of assistance, I'm happy to be able to do so.

A brilliant solution, explained in a very articulate way.  I have been reading comments on this forum for years before finally signing up for it just now (not sure why it took me so long) - and I have to say, your comments have always been a highlight for me.  You are always so sensible.  Thanks.
