DRIVING IN RIYADH

Post new topic

tony1890

I have a driver's license valid for 10 years. and it was issued during my previous employer and iqama number. I have also a car that transferred for the meantime to my friend and added him as additional driver, for the possibility of coming back.

Now, I have returned back here in Riyadh with a business visit visa. The question is, will i be able to drive my car again even my licensed is issued with my previous employer/iqama?

Please advise me. Thanks.

Tony, unfortunately your driving licence is only valid as long as the iqama is valid.

As the iqama has expired, your license is invalid.

If you have a license from another country or international license, that will be valid for 3 months with the business visa.

Thanks for your reply.

In any case i will be granted later a working visa, will i be able to renew my drivers license with my new iqama considering that the license is valid for 10 years. or do i still need to take and apply again for a new driving license.

If i am to use my country's issued license, how to apply and drive a car.

Thank you again.

If you have a new Iqama, you can just let a driving school process that and change your sponsor, have a letter from your employer, having the same procedure as a new application. But you can skip all the tests...good luck. Cheers.

ok. Thanks a lot.

Tests, they actually have driving tests!

MM I have a colleague that has some years left in the validity of his license, just processed the transfer, and that's it. There was no test involved. Maybe it's this random thing that the licensing officials do...lol..well if tony is confident of his driving skills then just take the darn test and get it over with....cheers...:D

Driving in riyadh.... that itself is a test of life every time i come there, I am not sure how I might come back.
