Thinking of Moving to Cebu from Ormoc City

Post new topic

Hi,

Wife and I have been biding our time in Ormoc since the lockdown, but we see doctors in Cebu for specialty medical care not available in Ormoc City. Doctors are located near Chong Hua Hospital near  Fuente Osmeña Circle.

We are looking for a one BR/studio condo over towards Cebu/Mactan, something with a pool and/or a beach to snorkel from. Rent 6 months minimum.  Something nice, but crazy expensive.

Any suggestions where to go/who to contact?

Also, how much trouble would it be to move from city to city now?  Will we have a mandatory 14 day quarantine?

Moonunit, I'm not clear on whether you want to be on Mactan Island specifically or just somewhere in Cebu City that is close to the water. I have never lived on Mactan Island but my gf did and I have visited. It is a bit hotter and more humid.  There are plenty of nice resorts and beaches but snorkeling is not that great that I know of, and the water is pretty polluted. We always go to Panglao, Moalboal, or Bantayan for that, at least once a month when I'm there. Each of those is only a 3-4 hours away from Cebu City by car/ferry. Perfect for a weekend trip with the kids.

We have always lived in the hills of Lahug or Busay, above the city - it's a bit cooler, quieter, less congested, and still only 30 min to Chong Hua or Ayala mall. Lots of condos available either at Marco Polo, or Citylights Gardens, which has an amazing pool. Unfortunately you would not be close to any beaches. But you would be on the Cebu Trans-Central Hwy, which goes across the mountain to the other side. Beautiful drive, stunning scenery, much cooler up there and many restaurants and cafes along the way. We generally go up the mountain on weekends and I bike the Busay section 3x a week.

Feel free to PM me if you want more info.

I know a place in Cebu City that would allow you to rent for a year. Quarantine period depends on the city you are in, some would require you to stay up to 21 days.

Chong Hua is a good hospital , at least compared to all i have seen/been in since i lived here. went there once for pneumonia when i lived in lapu-lapu. it may be better for you to find a place more out away from cebu city but still near highway/close enough  to  commute to dr. visits. its really congested and hot and kind of crowded in most places too near city center. after all you are going to be spending more time at home than the dr.'s (hopefully!)
I will say whatever you do find time to go spend the day at cebu safari , its a travel north for you but worth it! maybe rent a hotel room and spend the night there near the safari so you can get up and go early and spend the entire day(you may not see it all in a day!) then get a good nights rest there at your hotel again before heading back home, you will be tired its huge place to take in with lots of walking,
i went when it was a cold opening or whatever...it wasn't finished yet,and i was impressed.
its owned and built by that rich lullier guy who owns all the pawn shops.

i heard he was building a hotel/guest houses?.. right there inside the zoo!
it may be done by now.
