Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding music festivals in Sri Lanka. I study music here in Norway, and one of the research papers we are currently reading as part og curriculum is "Music development, and post-conflict reconciliation in Sri Lanka".  The author is discussing many barriers and obstacles in getting the wanted results in "reconciliation" or "cultural peace". But I just find it very strange, that she doesn't include death threats to the artists who take part in such festivals, where two different cultures that have had conflict for over 30 years, cooperate at one stage, together. I tried to google it, but the only thing I find is some articles from 2003, long before the Jaffna music festival for example? Is it really that simple for Sri Lanka musicians to take part in such music festivals? Is it safe or is it dangerous?

I would appreciate any info!

Have a nice day

Dear,

Sri Lanka is a small Island. All over country safe at the moment. Sri Lankan Forces are very strong than you thought hence anyone can travel all over country without any difficulties. All nations living in Colombo without any problems. Jaffna People like to live without war, but LTTE diaspora still need separate country. Therefore Jaffna politician not treated well for their people. Finally Musician can participate any event all over the country.

Thanks
