Agree with Lasvegan it ain't going to that easy/straight forward especially if you have utilised some of the previlages of being am SRRV holder like the 7000usd import/tax duty waiver & that needs to be sorted out with the BOC.
I'd suggest you approach the PRA office in Makati for a start.
Good luck.

Hi and welcome to the forum, hope you find your answers. Manwonder hit the nail on the head, as an SRRV holder you should be going straight to the PRA to sort this out, from what I have read on expat sites over the years it usually takes 6 to 12 months to have funds returned, those instances have been for a deceased person and their heirs info on retrieving funds for the estate, others have mentioned a 6% tax but I would assume this relates to PRA investments being tied up in property or lease agreement and would be related to CGT. As a current SRRV holder applying to opt out it should be much easier. Another member mentioned shipped goods to the Philippines but from memory after 2 or 3 years you can sell chattels and not incur any duties or taxes on the shipped items.
Honestly you need to go straight to the horses mouth and please let us know the procedure and outcome.
I'm sure we all wish you luck.

OMO.

Cheers, Steve.

I am sorry to hear it did not work out for you. Here's the thing, when you parted happily with the 20k years ago and put your John Hancock on the line, what did you agree on?
I hope you still have the contract.
You also have heard of the red tape. You can't buy that from the sari-sari store.
Your recourse would be to find that contact.

Take a look at this. It might provide some direction on what you are trying to do. HTH.
