30% Ruling after Internship

alpno

Hi,

I came to the Netherlands for an internship for an International Company at March 2020. Note that, since this company was an international company, I was registered under Ministry of Foreign Affairs hence I was not obligated to register under gementee. A month layer, at April, I found an apartment and registered my self with gementee. 8 months later, at November, I de-registered my self from Gemente, and now I'm continuing to stay within the Netherlands without being registered under Gemente.

At March 2021, I'll start my new job with highly-skilled working permit. I want to benefit from 30% ruling but I'm afraid spending at-least 16 months outside of the Netherlands rule will not permit me. Although I was only registered for 8 months under Gementee.

I was wondering if there're additional cases that are related to my case.  Does this mean that I will never be able to benefit from it?

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

You've already answered your question; you need to meet all of the requirements to qualify for the 30% ruling, they are displayed on the Dutch Government (Belastingdienst) website; this link will take you straight to the list.

I'm not aware of any exemptions that would enable you to qualify; however, my advice is to speak to a Dutch tax-adviser who may know something different.

Hope this Helps.

Hi,

I was wondering about the same thing and found this:

https://www.expatcentreleiden.nl/en/abo … -30-ruling

It makes perfect sense because if you only interned/studied here you did not make enough to settle and are in the same position as people just arriving.

I just don't think it is very well known yet.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

Interesting post and the information in that link is certainly enlightening.  All the more reason for an individual to go and speak to Dutch tax advisers regarding their own specific situation.

Thanks again.
