Hi! I am a 22 year old Californian and I am looking into how I can find jobs that would give me a contract in order for me to apply for a work visa and to live in the netherlands.
Thankyou

Hi,

The first and most important thing is speaking Dutch at a consersational level. You must have a educational degree that conforms with the EU and the Dutch guidelines, without you can't land a job in the Netherlands.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

It really comes down to your employability; part of the process you go through is that the Dutch Government will assess you for that, so they will be looking for previous experience, qualifications, whether people similar to yourself are also looking for work.

To find work is never easy; you really need 4 things:

Relevant experience
Relevant qualifications (especially if you work in a regulated profession)
Speak the local language
Luck

The more you tick off, the better your chances; luck is probably the hardest one for some people.  If you've been applying with no success, then you really need to look at your CV and ask yourself why you aren't having any luck.  If you're just setting out, then do your research, look on things like LinkedIn, speak to your peers, find out who's hiring.

You should be aware that COVID is currently causing some significant problems in the Dutch labour market, with lots of people out of work, so you may be best placed to ride out the storm in the USA, if you travelled right now, you'd be placed straight in quarantine, probably not the best place to start your Expat experience.

Hope this helps.
