Oh, someone mailed it to you? I thought it’s directly from the IRS cause my friend had hers directly from IRS. Also did you already changed address with IRS and had a payment trace? How did you make them send new a one and How did it go? Was it a check or a debit card?

Carlo Albelda Aguilus

Is that the stimulus check youre talking about or a tax refund?

russ santa

I don't know about BPI not accepting the stimulus check, when I got my first stimulus check through paper mail I deposited it to BPI dollar account and they accepted it with no problem. My wife never complained about any problem with the clearing or anything so I'm pretty sure it was all good. Haven't got my $600 and $1400 checks though. Is there anyway I can open a US bank account from the Philippines? TIA

Carmina Francisco

Yes, Because currently I’m staying here in the Philippines and the Address I used to file taxes is from my previous apartment address that’s why it’s addressed there and I don’t have a usd account in States. My roommate send it to me. Via fedex it’s a check

Carmina Francisco

Economic impact payment

Hi. Just want to Ask if you able to encash your Check?

michelle calimutan

I just got my $600 stimulus does the landbank option got work easily?

Sumomaster2004

Just open a peso or dollar account for$100 and deposit your check.

michelle calimutan

Do I need a peso saving to be able to open dollar account?

Sumomaster2004

No. Just a dollar account is enough. But you can deposit a dollar check into the peso account and it will automatically convert it.

To deposit a paper check in the Philippines with no fuss:

1) Complete the online application for a Peso Savings Account (w/ATM) with Landbank
2) You will receive a confirmation via text message, then go to your nearest Landbank
3) Try to get there 30-45 minutes before opening (long lines)
4) Complete the application process and biometrics
5) Submit required documents (Passport, ACR-i Card, Proof of address)
6) They will compare the address on your check to the address you provide (must match)
7) Pay the P500 to open the account
8) Wait some more
9) They will print you an ATM card (Visa) at time of opening
10) Wait some more
11) Supply specimen signatures and sign FACTA
12) Go to ATM and activate card (they give you a slip of paper with simple instructions
13) Wait 30 days... Check will be converted to Peso on date of clearance
14) Wait 15 days... There is a 15 day holding period (total of 45 days)
15) If you only received the 3rd stimulus, you need to file for a tax refund for the first 1 or 2
16) Go to taxlslayer (they are free for me) and follow the process
17) Filipino income will be added after all is complete under "additional income sources"
18) Complete the tax filing
19) Wait even more
20) Paper checks will be issued roughly 6 weeks after submission
21) Wait two months
22) Us Treasury mail is expedited, but still will take a month and a half for delivery
23) Deposit your tax refund check in your Landbank Peso Savings
24) Wait another 45 days
25) Spend it all on Christmas presents because it will be almost December by then

cebunick ~ EXCELLENT 25 step process outline, except I think she said it was mailed from a US address which would not match what the bank here needs. 🤣😂

Sumomaster2004

My checks have a US address on it. No problem with Landbank. The pay to name has to match yours. I have a peso account and its converted upon clearing.

cebunick

You have to provide a Filipino address when filling out the application online for the account, and you will also have to provide your U.S. Address when filling out the FACTA information.

Darrell Lee39

Are you a us foreigner . I am so will Landbank still cash my check?

Darrell Lee39

And if I'm a us foreigner will they open dollar account for 5000p and deposit my stimulus check.

Thanks

Darrell Lee

Will the Land bank let you use $100 of the stim check to open an account?

Brad Brackney

Will the Landbank let you use part of the stimulus check to open an account?

FortuneFavorsTheBold

Depends on who you talk to.

Sumomaster2004

No. You cant deposit the check till the account is open.

I was able to open an account at BDO by depositing $400 out of a $2000 check! I had to go to 3 different branches to get it done! My Canadian friend took me to his branch and vouched for me! Then only 30 minutes and it was done! Just have to find the way that works for you but having a friend that already has an account works best!

Brad Brackney

Thank you sir

Brad Brackney

I have an account at BDO and they told me they do not except any IRS checks.

Reading between the lines, it was not a stimulus check from the IRS? ( $2,000? ) You deposited $400, what happened to the $1600 balance?

Your experience was not my experience at BDO. When opening a joint account with my Filipina Wife we deposited $2500 with a personal CitiBank check drown on our account in the states. The check cleared CitiBank the next day. I couldn't access my funds to after 20 business days.

Sometime later I received an $400 income tax refund, even though we had several thousand dollars in a BDO dollar account, they would not accept the check for deposit.

You had a friend vouch for you, I had the US Treasury & Thousands of Dollars & Pesos in two accounts vouch for me with no luck.

Who vouched for you? Justin Trudeau?

alyssamilcasalvador

hi Sarah, i have the same situation with you. Have you received it now after the 30-40 days clearing in landbank?

alyssamilcasalvador

I went to BPI last week and they accepted it and was told that i need to wait 30 days to clear the check.

BPI accepted my 2nd eip but it says i should wait 30 days for clearing. Did it get through your account already?

Bulacan1957

I just talked to my godson who is working in BPI he told me that they’re no longer accepting US Treasury check 05/21/2021

FortuneFavorsTheBold

I'm not sure that BPI has ever accepted US Treasury checks.  Electronic direct deposit is the only way to go for many reasons as far as I'm concerned.

Sumomaster2004

I got mine at Landbank and it took 25 days total to clear and post in my account. Its a peso account.

lasvegan

OK
It was quick because my friend asked to see the manager! We were ushered into her office! She looked at the check which was from an insurance claim! Not IRS! She took my passport and ACR card and gave it to her assistant and she took it out to a teller used for Commercial accounts and returned with the cash and my temporary account information! I was offered the choice of Dollars or pesos and i chose dollars! Actual time was closer to an hour! FIY my Canadian friend has more money then Trudy does and way more popular....lol!!

One important thing in my selecting BDO/Unibank is the convenience, they have 1100+ branches and 4400+ ATM'S.   Also you can pick up any Western Union remittance sent to you at BDO.

Kim Camacho

Hi Carmina, I just wanna asked what did you do to get a new check from IRS?

Bulacan1957

I was able to deposit my stimulus check to my dollar account in UCPB but they told me there will charge of $30 , and clearing of 30 days . Don’t go to Security Bank if you don’t have an  existing old account with them , also with Metrobank they want you to open peso account first then open a dollar account and clearing is 6 months

jigglypuff628
