Visa question about non-eu freelancer in the netherlands

Hello,

I am a non-EU national (from southeast asia) and I am sponsored by my EU boyfriend in the Netherlands.

I am currently able to work and looking for a more stable desk job.
However, I would like to be a freelance photographer in the future.

My question is:
When I decide to become a freelancer and own a photography business, is there a possibility to change my visa to be independent from my boyfriend's sponsorship?

I would like at some point, not to have to be dependent on my boyfriend's sponsorship (or a company work-visa) and instead have my own business.

Is this something that's doable for a non-eu national?

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

This brings up 2 issues really:

The first is your residency status.  You will need to involve the IND in any change you make and they have a section of their website dedicated to this; this link will take you straight there.

Secondly, setting up your own business; there are 2 links I can provide, the first is from the Dutch Government and explains the regulations for self-employed professionals; this link will take you straight there.  I would also advise you to speak to the Kamer van Koophandel (KvK); this link will take you straight to their website; find your nearest office and give them a call.

I wish you all the luck and success in your future venture.

Hope this helps.
