Salary negotiation and finding rentals

Hi all,
I have a job interview for a company in Denmark. I have a few questions:

* I tried to research salaries online but drew a bit of a blank. I know how much I need as a min, based on tax, cost of living, etc. but I don't want to undersell myself of course. Is it typical for international Danish companies to ask me how much I want to earn or can I ask them for a range for this position?

* renting, if I get the job. How do I find a suitable flat while not living in Denmark and not speaking Danish (I can mostly read Danish)? I know the rental market is competitive, and not being there and covid make this a lot more difficult. I could imagine packing up my furniture, putting them into storage and renting a furnished place until I find something, but that would not be my preference. I'm looking at Lyngby as a place to live.

Thanks a lot.

Hi lemonte,

Negotiating salaries is indeed an issue as it is always descreetly handled. Maybe, you can find some help on below websites. Otherwise, I have answered several similar questions. Make a search on the forum: Salary, and you'll hopefully find. If not, do'nt hesitate to ask again.

I would presume that the company would offer you help to find a housing. If not, do ask for help regarding this. I cannot recommend that enough, actually, I would say it is a must, especially in this corona time. Lyngby is a very sought area because of its closeness to Copenhagen and its beautiful surroundings. Prices are high, but actually, prices are high everywhere.

I take that an international company is prepared to help you as best it can in word and deed. I also take that it will offer you the market salary which you may negotiate a little higher

I hope this will do for now. You have asked broadly which my answer also mirrors. If you need more help, don't hesitate to return.

Thanks a lot Nellie,

I've tried several salary sites already, but it doesn't really help. My profession is rare, and thus data is scarce. The suggested salaries on both those sites for my experience are a lot less than what I used to earn in Denmark with 5 years of experience many years ago. This just doesn't seem right. Thus I think I'll remain confused and see what the interview brings  :/

I will certainly ask for relocation. I of course checked all sorts of rental sites and am aware of rental prices. Sigh. My flat in Copenhagen used to be so cheap (well, in comparison). Thanks for the rental overview though. This is gold!

So lets see what happens.

Good luck and fingers crossed.
