I hope in the near future to rent/buy property in Europe.  How does an individual find a legitimate realtor? Are there any recognized agencies that I would be familiar with in the United States?
thank you

'Europe' is a bit vague.  There are 27 countries - each with their own rules and agents.

I understand the comment about the vagueness of the request.  I think what I should have asked is two-fold
1. If an individual was seeking assistance in seeking a residence in Europe how would he/she pursue this task
2. Are there any United States realty agencies that have European offices
Thank you

Most agencies are local, so you would need to zone in on an area.   As far as I know there are no American agencies which work in EUrope - they would have to be licenced in each country.  Its much more regulated than in the US.  An international agency such as Sotheby's do work in Europe but only on the highest end properties.

Alioto is a lawyer.  He is not a real estate agent,  Lawyers cannot act as agents in Italy given the obvious conflict of interests.

There are a lot more than 27 countries in Europe. I am guessing you mean the EU when you say 27.

I am also inteerested in finding a real estate agent as well as a real estate lawyer. Area: Florence, Italy. Any suggestions and reccommendations would be appreciated. I am in the U.S. and as Americans are closed to traveling to the EU, I do nott rule out remote transactions. Thanks
