Primary school(s) in Mauritius

Hi!

I have a 3year old and trying to find out how her education could progress in Mauritus.
I would like to find out if living in Mauritus as an expat (say with a premium visa) means that my child can only attend private schools? Or is there an option gor free education?

as far as I know a Residence Permit or the Premium Visa entitles you to government education for your children (not sure about university though) and government hospitals and clinics - it is just with housing that you have to Buy within an expat scheme (after 3 years there are other options though). You are allowed to Rent anywhere on the island from the beginning however.
