Non Habitual Residency

Last year I signed a lease on an apartment in Portugal and I am in the process of moving my goods and personal possessions there.
I have a fiscal number and went with my Lawyer to the municipal offices where I received my “Certificado de registo de cidadao da uniao Europeia “ valid till 2025. My lawyer said he has applied for NHR on my behalf.
But what happens next? I asked if I get some sort of residency card and was told NO. All I need is the certificado mentioned above.
So what happens when I next arrive in Portugal? Is that Certificado the same as a Shengen visa? As a British citizen, can I use that certificado to visit any European country in the EC?
I’m not sure if I am being told the correct advice

The certificate needs to be exchanged now for a digital version which you will be required to show each time you enter and leave Portugal, which as I understand it will override the 90 day limit as a non Schengen passport holder (Ireland passport holders do not require this, having spoken to the embassy, so this is 100% UK Brexit 3rd country status specific to Portugal) and believe requires a follow up ID reconfirmation at local town hall.

The certificate does not grant you permission to  live, work or stay in another EU territory and Schengen rules apply to entry via any other Schengen point on arrival and exit.

Hi we are British citizens been here since 2018 & we had to register to exchange our then current documents for a new residence permit due to the uk leaving the eu but it had to be done before the end of 2020 to be protected under the withdrawal agreement, its pretty straight forward & you get a certificate saying that you have registered & are awaiting an appointment with SEF. Unsure now that it is 2021 what you have to do but here is the website that we had to go on, https://brexit.sef.pt/en/.  Good luck & I hope that you can get sorted out also the site is in English

Hello, I am spanish and I am living in Portugal. I registered  to get the "Certificado de registo de cidadao da uniao Europeia “ this is the prove that I live in Portugal.

Wait your NHR to be approve, for me was only one week, then you will have the fiscal residence in Portugal. I think that´s all. I can travel from and to Portugal with this and with my passport or spanish civil Id without problem.

Good luck!
