Should I Have Kids Before or After Moving?

Hello!

First time poster here. Eventually, a few years down the road, I my wife and I will be making the move the Sweden. She’s finishing off her PhD, and I’m working on my masters.

We were originally planning on having children within the next year or so - but the decision to move to Sweden has shifted things a little. We’re unsure about so much - it would be a permanent move and we’re trying to take the best course for becoming citizens and really establishing ourselves in Sweden.

We’re still relatively young (mid-late 20s) so it will be easy to wait if that is the course we should take. The most important thing about the decision is making sure that our child’s life is happy and healthy and as stress-free as possible. My wife has great insurnace through her PhD program, but I understand healthcare is also great in Sweden, and cultural differences make it a lot more sustainable for both parents to equally contribute to raising a child. As we are both very career focused, I would never expect my wife to stay home exclusively with our newborn. I am much more willing to stay at home as a parent.

Currently, I have a vasectomy (children were not part of our original plan - we changed our minds together). I will need to have it reversed before we have children regardless, so it makes planning something like this really easy.

Would y’all recommend starting a family before or after the move?

Thanks for any and all suggestions! There’s so much we don’t know (parenting is already an unknown) so any insight would be amazing!
