COMMUNIQUE- Ministry of Labour, Human Resource Development and Training

The Ministry of Labour, Human Resource Development and Training wishes to inform all concerned that in view of the temporary restriction on the movement of persons imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, employers would be allowed to submit applications for the renewal of work permits held by non-citizens upon lifting of all restrictions.

Such applications would however have to be submitted within a period of three months as from the date of the lifting of the restrictions. No payment of surcharge will be applicable only for applications submitted within the required three months.

All urgent matters pertaining to work permits for non-citizens as prescribed under the Non-Citizens (Employment Restriction) Act may be reported via email at emp@govmu.org.

Extension of Visas and Grant of Permission to Stay to Residence Permit and Occupation Holders in Mauritius



In view of the resurgence of COVID-19 cases in the Mauritius lately, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has decided that non-citizens whose Visas or Residence Permits or Occupation Permits are expiring during the period ending 31st of March 2021 and who are not being able to leave the country, be exceptionally granted an extension of their visas and permission of stay respectively until 31st of May 2021 or upon upliftment of the restrictions, whichever is the earliest.



The concerned non-citizens should, thereafter, arrange with the Passport and Immigration Office to regularize their situations.
