Fedex did things right

Post new topic

Sometimes I have trouble with FedEx, my mail gets to the Philippines timely and gets bounced around by customs, then calling FedEx to straighten things out. FedEx has always been responsive and helpful when things hit a snag.

This time FedEx delivered a day earlier than quoted. I'll let my mail accumulate at my re-mailer in Houston Texas. When it builds up, I use FedEx, as I would never allow it to run through the Philippine Postal system.

That time frame is amazing.  My last trip to get to the Philippines was longer than that.

Fedex is horrible where i live.  I pay for door to door, and they call me and tell me that i have to meet them in the large city that is 45 minutes from my house.  Also they upcharge when the package gets to the Philippines.  Ups in my opinion is far better.  They dont operate in the Philippines but they use lbc to do there local shipping and they dont have an upcharge.  DHL is ok they are a little sketchy about there times. The Philippines postal service is literally the worst.  It take them months to get a letter shipped and they upcharge on the pickup.

On another note i  own two cargo containers that i ship from the usa yearly.  So i try to put all my items in the container.  I also rent soace in my container when im shipping.  It works out pretty well.  Covers the cost of shipping the container and expats in the Philippines can get cheaper shipping.  I shipped last December and we shipped a 40 foot container with 6 other peoples stuff inside.  No problems with customs and shipped directly to their houses.

Unfortunately I had to have mail delivered again by FedEx so soon after my last delivery by them which arrived April 5th.

My bank switch my American Express card to Visa, so I needed the new Visa card.

The reason for this post is to show the curious route it took.

(2) Departed Memphis TN on Thursday
(3) Departed Anchorage AK on Thursday
(4) Departed Guangzhu China on Saturday
(5) Departed Sennan Japan on on Saturday

(6) Departed Pasay City on Monday (Today)
(7) Delivered Today Monday 11:57 am

If I provided the link it may come under review, so the quickest way for me to answer is "Google" US Global Mail.

For shipping larger things purchased from Walmart, Amazon or anywhere else "Google" Buy and Ship Ph.

They ship from US and consolidate for free for 21 days. They charge 350 PHP per pound to your door. I've signed up because I'm going to purchase Furnace Hepa Filters, to be used in front of a box fan to filter out dust, bacteria, viruses, mold & smog.

I can't find the email I had about delivery, but I recall correctly about three weeks for most.

BobEnzyte,
Maybe I can shed a little light on what likely happened. I worked for Boeing for 13 years and frequently shipped parts and aircraft related special tools all over the world. It appears that when your package was shipped to China the first time it missed the first connecting flight from China to the Philippines.
So it took the scenic route to Japan, then Back to China for round two. It's not that uncommon when they have connections to another flight within 1 hour of the landing time of the arriving flight things tend NOT to make the connection for the departing flight. I'd bet you a beer that's what happened.

Retired FDX pilot here. Thanks for the nice words, our motto is "The world on time." and everyone works hard to support that!

Regarding the comments about "the last mile," I am fairly sure all cargo companies use local contacts to go from the hub buildings to the  customer. I think it's due to Philippine laws regarding ownership and management of companies doing business in PI.

I've never heard a comment where we refused delivery to the door, unless the first 2 delivery attempts were unsuccessful though. I've never lived in the province, so maybe that's the reason...
