Responsive open minded
or get defensive against CONSRUCTIVE critisism
that's the question   :)

Many tell stories about the second about Filipinos, who screw up by wanting to do their own way even when it's stupid. (I jump telling exceptions, I ssuppouse many know own examples.) Foor instance a friend  from back in Elementary school, who mooved to Phils 30+ years ago.  He is basicly a chef but and tried to teach Filipinos to stop eat unhealthy mainly about how to fry, but he gave up  :)

BUT there are good examples of good exceptions of Filipinos, who want to learn the good parts from "western" countries:
/That friend of mine started daily jogging tours. In the beginning the Filipinos found him nuts, but Filipinos are good at copying  :)   and now many have copiied so rather many exersise in that small town.
/My business partner had learned things from an American before I found him and he continue to want to learn things which can reduce powerty.
/The goverment has copied Swedish "Ombusman"    :)
/Recently I found a group with all Filipinos plus II and a German-American   :)    about rural businesses related to what I'm startting  There I made a topic talking about a main problem for this business type and talked a bit about how much earning can be added to the Philippines by changing thinking and method in this business type.  I thought most would get grumpy by I critisise Phils, but the CONTRARY. ALL agree to what I wrote and many told they wish to learn the effective "western" method. Except ONE who got grumpy and said this will be solved the Filipino way.  But the Filipino way is proven crap     :)  by hpw it has been screwed up at least 50 years  :)   and faaaaarfrom solving any of the two main problems.  And I got to know yesterday not even in college for such business type they teach a methiod suiting profesional handling!!!    So perhaps I will start such course   :)   although foreigners are NOT allowed to be such teachers, BUT are allowed to "instruct" Filipino teachers   :)

I think it's best with a COMBINATION of FFilipino and "western" thinking.  So I have asked Filipinos a lot before I made my oppinions and plans.

Please respond with an open mind.

1. Do you use spellchecker?
2. Do you have fat fingers when typing a response or posting?
3. Do you proof read your posts?
4. Do you edit your posts for corrections?

This inquiring mind would like to know

2. No. but I have bad hands, some fingers are as Z bend backwards. Doctor "specialist" don't know what it is only "Not reumatism". So lucky I can type at all   :)     Plus it's time to replace my laptop because the jkeyboard  stoped fiunctioning proper ssoon after the warranty ended   often not type if I don't hit some keys extra hard - or print same double.

1.  Do you know which group write MOST spelling and grammar errors?
According to an  investigation made by a collehe, I have forgot which, it's the highest bosses. ..
I'm highest boss    :)  and have been mostly since I were 24yo.  (As most over close to 1000 people. Percy Barnevik, who was CEO for the multinational ABB, was UNDER me a while   :)
You are MIDDLE boss, aren't you?  That's the group, which WASTE time at trying to not write any errors and normaly get stucked at middle positions because of not understanding content is much more important than spelling...

3 +4.   Of course not   :)

I use spell checker to correct me when I make errors so not to make the same mistakes
over and over. I would recommend using an external keyboard on your laptop. Maybe a big key and lighted keyboard.

Congratulations on being a higher boss I would think higher bosses realize and could afford to purchase a large key keyboard to solve a simple problem. I use a laptop also with external lighted keyboard, external mouse and external monitor.

I'm sure you can understand the meaning of measure twice cut once, so as with your posts, you have a chance to edit your posts. (reumatism, jkeyboard, stoped, fiunctioning, ssoon, collehe, normaly.)

Spelling is over rated.  He knew what he meant, makes it more of a challenge for the rest of us.

But there YOU did same error AGAIIN,  bother about NOT IMPORTANT =spelling instead of the IMPORTANT =Content.    Your spell check tool didn't help you from doing the SAME IMPORTANT error again...  :)
A repeeted sign at you never got higher than middle boss...

There you made a second error.  Not only higher boss - Highest boss.  The middle and higher boss levels I were at allready as teenager....   :)   (First group boss in production and when they noticed my team got things done 1.5 times faster than the other groups, then they offered me (lomng ttime substitute) planning boss poisition in the second bigest in Sweden such type of distribution business. )
At age 24 I started own such business covering a province, because I had noticed I could do such both better and cheaper than them   :)   (Grew it to 70 employees allready within a year, to 115 before I sold it.,)
Parallell I got elected chairman and main leader in a sports club, which were only 40 members and had bad results. It became close to 1000 members and second best in Sweden
before I moved and did close to similar in an other sports club.  That was some funny.. When I moved members in the first club said:
-So  now you will go and make them good too?
-No. Now I will relax and just start playing tennis and table tennis at club level myself.
But it took only a few months befoe I felt sorry for them, so I felt I "had to" assist them  :)   so I made them 9th youth club national in only 2 years.

Now I¨m retired. Left to see if I will be satisfied with growing the new business in Phils just small,
but as a joke I have said to my business partner the goal is geting all such business  productioin in that region   :)

My original response to you is "do you use spell checker".

But your response is how great you are, we all know how great and benevolent you are from many previous posts.

People who are great and benevolent like you, shy away from letting the world know, they quietly carry on with their success and good deeds.

I see/feel the passion....you can take away my spell checker but you cannot take away my freeeedddooom.

In your quote you had EXCLUDED an IMPORTANT part, showing you still don't get it, so I added it...  :D
Of course you made a new error, missinterpreeting the REASON to my answer, still not understanding effective highest bosses don't bother about spelling we bother sbout CONTENT...
So I did write a part of my CV just to show positions I have reached WITHOUT using spell check...

Now I'm kind of retired, so during I wait for the new business to get started, I have time to coment such error in thinking as people as you have. Earlier I would just fire such people or never hired if it was I who made the employment...  Except acountants. THEY better bother to make details exact   :)
(To add an other example of positions I have reached without using spell check  :)   I got a "company doctor" assignment for the third bigest nationaly in a type of business, when they had got crisis in the region where I lived.  (I got it without even meeting any of them, I suppouse by they knew them, who gave me the Planning boss job when I were teenager.) They had fired the region boss allready because of the big mess, but I "inherited" all the other around 80 employees. I started with telling them both some benifits I added for them and:
-Forget all of how things have been  done here before. There are so many system errors so we  start rebuilding from scratch. Before  any salary payout I will check if each of you have done the work for clients good enough.
Allready after 6 months the headquarter said we had gone ftom crisis to their best region, so we got the extra jobs for clients, who hesitated and wanted to do test before they did something national.
Then I found a new region boss material and tought him how to do, before I left for other challenges  :)

Off topic but I have used spell/grammar checker for near 30 years, my choice and surprised at times by my misspelling most times typing too quick and perhaps fat fingers.

I and I'm sure others understand the OP's posts, at times a second read but legible, his post was about this exact scenario, simply remember that english is not every ones first language and as we all well know here, tolerance and some patience can be a virtue and then some.

I am sure some people get annoyed with my lengthy posts at times but have had the decency to not condemn, pick holes or simply skip my at times lengthy input.
An open forum for all as long as we abide by the rules.

OMO.

Cheers, Steve.

Sorry coach 53 but to add to my previous post defending you I would now have to agree to the broken record insinuations, we all have long and at times boring life stories but this site is about expats in the Philippines and not about what we accomplished in previous lives or other countries, move on here with your new enterprise and advise accordingly per se.

Only an observation and don't take offence.

BTW no mistakes with spell checker. Woohoo.

Cheers, Steve.

I agree, you are the highest boss and and I'm just a bottom feeder. So, I'm finished with this pissing up a rope contest.

Only from my lowly plebeian existence and observations. I didn't stir the pot and as an open forum? I'm sure Filipinos care little whether we use spell check or how our previous lives evolved,,,,, here it is now, at best tomorrow. This is where we live or for many where they want to live and perhaps some good examples should be set,,,,,, my guess is the moderators will remove some posts or lock the topic and rightly so.

Cheers, Steve.

Yes.  Remember I  started the topic about the Philipppines, but it BECAME off topic by Enzyte Bob's totaly off topic posts...   :)    and I wrote part of my CV just as example and PROOF of correctness of  the conclusion the college made research made about spelling (and grammar) erors are most made buy high bosses. Well.  To tell the truth I write such parts of my CV  to petimeters ,who complain about spelling or grammar INSTEAD of writing about the content, to show how small they are as persons, shown by they find it important to complain about spelling...  :)

Btw  them with English as first language, who I have done business with, even when I were at the seller side, have never complained about my English, not even my terrible pronounsiation
