Hi. Thinking of moving to Dubai, so I'm interested in finding about how other expats who have already moved there.

Hi Alaa

It's great here.

So long as u have a decent job here, the employer will generally (I am not sure if they are obligated by law) do all the visa processing and paperwork required.

It's just an easy country to get adjusted to, so loving it.
You'll get everything that you want here, meaning from a high end luxurious lifestyle to if you want to live meagerly and be at the grass roots :)

It's a tiny struggle at the very start but after u've sorted out your housing and get familier with travel options ... its a great city to live in.

Weather ... aahem havent experienced the peak summer myself but it should be fine with all the infrastructure

Regards
Gaurav

Thanks Gaurav .. my biggest worry is primary school for my son .. he's special needs and speaks Italian only, very little English and no Arabic. I've looked at private primary schools in both Dubai and Qatar, but can't seem to find any that teach in Italian.

BlackSeaDragon

oh ok, unfortunately, I don't know of any schools that teach in Italian

and it would be good if your son can learn English !? I am sorry if I offended you, I don't know the background of your son and all.
But just generally, even just getting by and living in Dubai, would be good if he can speak English, one can get by without Arabic

No offence taken Gaurav..I'm currently teaching him English myself (our original plan was to move to Ireland but now that's not looking so promising so I'm looking into Dubai and Qatar as well) but I don't think he'll have more than basic English by the time we move and I was thinking the transition might be easier for him if I could find an Italian or even bilingual (Italian-English) school for him. Unfortunately I've had no luck yet in any of the 3 countries. If some1 on this forum knows of an Italian school in Dubai/Qatar/Ireland or even knows where Italian kids go in any of these countries I hope they'll point me in the right direction!
