Malaysia EP1 renewal stranded in India

Post new topic

Vishnu Raaj

Hi. Am currently in Malaysia with EP1 visa and need to travel to India for personal reasons. I need to be back in Malaysia by October 2021 to apply for visa renewal as my visa is expiring on Jan 2022.
My HR told me it's risk to travel at the current situation as flights are banned and not sure if I can return within October, and even if flights operate, no guarantee that I get MyEntry approval. In case if I cannot return within January and visa expires when am in India, new visa application have to be initiated but it must be applied through MyFutureJobs portal and wait for one month and can process my Visa application only after immigration approval.

Can anyone help me on this process and is it risky to travel now if I couldn't return by October?

Hi! You HR is right with the process and risk due to the ban. It is hard to predict  when will the ban be lifted...

Thanks. Can you pls explain what's the actual process with MyFutureJobs

Hi Vishnu, this is a process where your employer will have to advertise the position in the portal for 30days and to interview qualified applicants.. after the period ends, the HR is to apply with Socso officer for the approval to hire expatriate for this post & as of now, this approval can take a minimum 2-4weeks due to the high number of applications..

Thanks for the details.  Since am already employed, is it applicable for me in case  new EP Visa is applied since am stuck in India and existing EP cannot be renewed?
My HR told me that it's not applicable for EP renewal and if am stuck in India, renewal cannot be done and new EP Visa needs to be applied and  she has to post it in MyFutureJobs regardless the person is already employed.

Hi Vishnu, actually the main issue is that there is no flight to India at the time being due to the ban of all flights from and to India...My client's flight is cancelled and the High Commission of India has provided this info in their website too

My client who look to come Malaysia this week also cant come over because total no flight in India. Its a total ban of inbound and outbound from india. Cant do anything on this.

Hi Vishnu, would suggest not to risk by travelling. Couple of my friends are stuck in India and their case is similar to what you have mentioned. And this was before the ban....so cannot think of the situation now... and very slim chances of getting approval in myentry.

Ok thanks a lot

Any idea how did they apply for Visa renewal

if you are not here your employer can still apply for an extension and if you are not able to return on the expiry they can apply for single entry visa
