Hi everybody... Its Pleasure to meet you here...

I appreciate this site makes us connected to each other around the world.

In the first introduction, sometime we can not believe who this new comer, without anyone recommendation who become our friend before.
As a new comer, we are new here.. and we dont have any friends before. but We hope that we have alot of friends from around the world with a good friendship of course.

I am a locals here in Jakarta, Indonesia. But I hear from some expats who are treated excessively by some locals, like asking money more than usual cost, doing cheating, or anything else. I am very sad to hear this. I do believe that there are some locals are a kind person.

Base on your experience, What do you think about this?

Can you give us as a locals, some advices how to make the expats believe, so we can build a good friendship ?

best regards,
fauzi

what you say fauzi is very much the way the world works, all over the world.

if you go to any country for holiday for example, and try to buy some trinkets, i am sure u will be given a different price than locals. locals believe that all expats in their country are loaded with money, they do not differentiate between expats who are there on holiday or expats who are thre on a permanent basis, working on a normal salary.

it is unfair, but, alas. c'est la vie.

what you can do as a local, what i do when i go back to my home country, is tell people if they want to shop, take me with them, as a free-of-charge guide, and i'll negotiate the buying price for them.

most locals have "white skin syndrome", they see a white person and immediately thing "ka-ching!" money in the bank. its shameful but, they have to earn a living too.
